How are gene-environment interactions between the polygenic risk score (PRS) for Parkinson disease (PD) and long-term exposure to traffic-related air pollution (TRAP) associated with PD risk?

A gene-environment interaction study, a combination of long-term air pollution exposure & genetic susceptibility "strongly contributed to the risk of developing #Parkinsons"; A meta-analytical assessment of studies conducted in central California & Denmark

Long-term exposure to traffic-related air pollution and higher genetic susceptibility are associated with an increase risk in developing Parkinson disease. https://t.co/NDpBo8mSfq
A study in @Nature_NPJ Parkinson's Disease reports that consuming a high-quality diet may help address the pro-inflammatory dysbiosis in Parkinson’s disease patients and possibly provide some protection against disease progression.

Excited to share that I've been selected as an Honorable Mention for the 2024 GeroScience Outstanding Publication Award! 🎉 A huge thank you to @Danbelsky for all the support. @GeroScienceAGE

How fun to be selected for the cover of the @HumBioAssoc journal! Super grateful to Prof @mollymfox@UCLA@DayoonKwon for incl me in their work on #pica among #Latina#women. The image is holy earth from Esquipulas, also used in the chapter headings of my book. #geophagy
New study from @DayoonKwon@mollyfox@ProfSeraYoung & colleagues finds that pica during pregnancy is associated with altered stress and immune responses among Latina women, revealing unique biological insights. #PregnancyHealth#Pica
New paper from @DayoonKwon@beate_ritz & colleagues examines associations between diet & gut microbiome composition in #Parkinsons; N=85 PD cases; Healthy diet associated with anti-inflammatory;⬆️added sugar intake associated with⬆️in pro-inflam. bacteria

Exciting News: A new paper on air pollution and Parkinson’s disease is now on Environmental Research. We found that long-term exposure to traffic-related air pollution increased PD risk in central California. Air quality matters for brain health! 🧠💨🌎

My first paper with @beate_ritz, “Diet quality and Parkinson’s disease: Potential strategies for non-motor symptom management” is out in @ParkinsonismD today! https://t.co/APe2lDQyD5
@johnhemming4mp@mike_lustgarten Yes, there is no restriction on doing this. But my R package just republishes the algorithms originally published by Klemera & Doubal and Levine and allows users to apply those algorithms to biomarker sets and data of their choice.
A new paper I had the pleasure of working on ambient air pollution and KD with @SeungAh46695527 . Short-term exposure to PM2.5 and SO2 was positively associated with KD in children <5 years in South Korea.
Positive association between daily variations in ambient air pollution and #KD obersved in childen <5 years in South Korea. #AHAJournals https://t.co/VKMNtq0cnX
How fast are we aging? How can we change environment and behavior to slow aging and increase healthspan? We built a new tool to find out: DunedinPACE is a DNA methylation blood test of the Pace of Aging. Paper online @elife

My paper with @Danbelsky is now up on GeroScience! We developed the R package, BioAge, that allows users to develop and implement biological age measures based on three published methods.
