We're resharing this post on our recent solar installation for Flexipack in Nigeria.
Bravo to our installations team for the excellent work on this one! 💪

In our countries of operations, no factory is similar. They can have different roof conditions, electrical wiring configurations, and electricity distribution points.
Let’s take you behind the scenes of a recent installation at Flexipack outside of Lagos.
Speaking of new industry developments, we’re resharing a deep dive on our new partnership w/ DisCos.

An interesting trend is afoot in Nigeria’s 🇳🇬power sector: DisCos are teaming up with solar companies to boost grid supply with captive solar power plants or mini-grids.
Here is a piece outlining Kano DisCo’s plans to be Africa’s first green utility:

At the end, we seamlessly integrated the solar plant to work with the turbine powering the rice mill.
Despite complicated logistics, we delivered the project in 10 weeks. 💪

Today, let’s take you behind the scenes of our 713kWp solar installation for Olam’s rice farm and mill in Nasarawa state in Nigeria.
It’s a textbook example of how African agribusinesses are saving costs on energy and driving towards net zero emissions. ☀️
We spent an extra two weeks to have the land cleared and ready for the solar installation. But once it was empty, we moved fast to mount the solar panels, connect the cables and inverters, and perform QA testing. 3/
While we’re incredibly proud of our achievements with our Women in Power Training Program (WIPT), we’re not resting on our laurels.
We’ll be sharing more content on our newest cohort soon. ✨
In 2020, we launched the Women in Power Training (WIPT) program to give women engineers job and skills training to succeed in the solar industry.
WIPT helps us build a talent pipeline to meet our goal of hiring women in 40% of leadership & technical roles by 2024. ✨
Today, let's debunk a common solar myth.
❌ Many prospect clients think they have to disconnect from the grid if they add solar to their power set-up.
✅ Solar works in tandem with your existing power sources (grid, generator), so you don't have to disconnect.
Our systems fully integrate into a client’s existing power ecosystem, offering the best of both worlds:
✅ Clients can continue to draw electricity from the grid
✅ Solar provides energy security in the event of power outages

We’re proud that we can install solar systems for factories in 6-8 weeks. But, we depend on our clients’ sites being installation ready.
If you want to fast track your installation to reap the benefits of solar, the number one repair you need to make is fixing your roof. 🧵
Bad-quality roofing sheets are a problem found not only among small-scale manufacturers but also large industrial operations.
From a bottling factory in Lagos to a major dairy producer in Ogun State, we have encountered this problem countless times.

Time flies. We can’t believe it’s been 3 years since we partnered with NBC, exclusive bottlers of Coca Cola, to solarize their operations.
To date, we’ve installed 12 MW of solar at 8 NBC factories across Nigeria. 💪

#Throwback to our employee spotlight featuring Victor Ezenwoko, our Nigeria and Ghana Country Director.
Victor led a team that installed our first solar system for NBC Coca Cola in Maiduguri in under two months -- during the pandemic no less!

Q: What Daystar project are you most proud of?
V: Our 750kWp solar system for Nigerian Bottling Company (Coca-Cola) in Maiduguri, in Nigeria’s northeast. It was our first project with NBC and we started right when Covid broke out in March 2020.
