Why did Hindu Bengalis turn Left?

The question ‘Why did Hindu Sabhaite Nirmal Chandra Chatterjee’s son Somnath Chatterjee become a Communist?’ raises the perplexing Left-ward drift of Hindu Bengalis, more so after Partition and Independence.
Nehru pauperised West Bengal out of sheer spite for letting in Hindu Bengali refugees against his explicit orders. In the first Budget after 1947 he severely slashed the share of funds payable to West Bengal so as not to allow CM BC Roy to provide any support or assistance to Hindu Bengali refugees. They were dumped like animals in what Nehru labelled as ‘Permanent Liability Camps’ — squalid, festering cesspools of filth and disease.
Nehru’s Freight Equalisation policy and his cockamamie Permit-Quota-Licence Raj, birthed by a Bengali called PC Mahalanobis, a statistician who came to decide how many scooters, clothes, cars, chocolate bars, cans of talcum powder, tubes of toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, bars of soap, Saridons, shoes, slippers, notebooks, pencils, erasers, baby food India should have. His numbers were naturally a tiny fraction of what India needed — statisticians and economists killed India’s economy even before it was born.
As industry declined and died in West Bengal, Left-backed militant trade unionism rose to dizzying heights. Enterprise and entrepreneurship was criminalised by Nehru and his Planning Commission gang; Indira Gandhi further dismantled what remained by barring foreign holding.
West Bengal was disinherited, giving rise to a million mutinies. The absentee landlords who spent lavished their wealth on nautch girls in Calcutta, the Nehru-contrived food shortage that led to food riots, the bogus elitism of an irresolute ‘Bhadralok’ class and the fashionably vacuous cosmopolitanism of the boxwallah brown sahibs remarkably denuded of ethics and values — both these species were relentless in their assault on Hindu social structures and cultural idioms rooted in religious faith and spiritualism — and a lot more pushed Hindu Bengalis towards the Left.
Unfortunately, all academic studies on this have flown from the poison pens of Leftie academicians. There have been few if any studies by alt academics. Which is a reflection of the scholarship on Right, or non-Left.

Why this blatant double standard by @KolkataPolice?

🟥 On 14.05.2025, a complaint was filed against a girl named Sharmistha for her alleged derogatory comments against Hazrat Muhammad. She later issued a public apology, yet she was arrested from Gurugram.

🟩 On the other hand, on 16.01.2021, former Governor @tathagata2 lodged a formal complaint (U/S 295A IPC) against Sayoni Ghosh, now a TMC MP, for uploading an insulting picture of Shivalinga — a clear insult to Lord Shiva and Hindu sentiments. Till date, no action taken.

Why is hurting Hindu beliefs ignored while others get arrested swiftly? Is Kolkata Police working under Mamata Banerjee's selective instructions? Or is insulting Hindu gods perfectly acceptable under her regime?
