You have a responsibility to not let your children look like fools.

They are especially prone to this in their teen years, when they are in situations that are emotionally charged.

-When they first have a crush on someone
-When they are rejected or break it off with a friend
-When an actual difficult situation arises (death, illness, or divorce in the family)

It is your job to help them to train their emotions, preserve their dignity, and behave correctly.

This is a tough discipline to learn. But they will thank you for it later.

Preserve their dignity when they are unsure how.

Many object to talk of a man correcting his wife—not because they don't actually believe that this is a core part of the husband's duty as described in Scripture—but because they understand just how broken things are today.

They understand that the majority of our culture, broadly speaking, considers any correction of a wife to be inherently abusive, domineering, and harsh.

The second you start talking about a husband's duty to correct his wife as a part of his patriarchal duty, they begin to add the word "hyper" in front of everything. All of a sudden, it's "hyper-patriarchy" and not just "patriarchy" anymore. This, despite the fact that both the Scriptures and our Christian forefathers agree that instruction/correction is an essential component of the husband's duty.

They object because they know that most pastors and most churches simply will not have a husband's back in bringing correction to his wife. Many men understand that if they do this, they will likely find themselves in a 2-on-1 fight—the husband on one side, the pastors and his wife on the other.

So what is a man to do? My conviction is that while all of this is true, men ought still to do everything they can to bring appropriate, gentle, Christlike instruction and correction to their wives.

I believe it would be better for a man to attempt this and even face great difficulty and loss, maybe even the loss of his marriage, than to submit to a fundamentally disordered view of marriage that requires him to stand idly by while his wife falls into the maw of the tentacular beast that is feminism.

Better to fear God and lose a wife than to fear a wife and submit to a life of misery.

A man who will not correct his wife when she is in sin is a man who refuses to obey the very heart of the command of the apostle in Ephesians 5.

Remember that the headship of Christ is explicitly related to his work in presenting his bride to himself without spot or blemish or any such thing. With washing her in the water of the Word.

If you love your wife, you will correct her, encourage her, exhort her, instruct her, and work to see her become a splendor day by day.

Teaching your daughters basic street-wise risk assessment does not imply you think that every black man is violent. It *does* imply you think they’re statistically more likely to be.

In the comments, a man suggests that if your daughter “already has eternal life,”you shouldn’t teach her situational awareness, because this life doesn’t really matter and it’s not worth being racist.

Or something like that. It was gay and hard to follow. Anyway, it’s important to remember that a lot of young White women have dads like that, and our job as a society is to protect them from both themselves and from their worthless fathers.

Just because the BLM riots were a formative moment for you does not mean it was a transformative moment for Whites as a whole or their general views on race. Nor were these riots unusual. Blacks have been burning down American cities for over a century and it never causes a mass White awakening. Before the Floyd riots you had:

Ferguson riots
Cincinnati riots
LA riots (Rodney king)
Miami (1980)
The “long hot summer” of 67
Watts
Harlem
Etc, etc, etc

Perhaps these incidents were a turning point for individual Whites, but they never caused a massive shift in racial attitudes. It’s important to zoom out the graph to see the larger trend and not just your personal experience.
