This has been my go-to metric for assessing how we're doing because it accounts for ALL causes that contribute to deaths: viruses, seasonal, natural, deaths of despair...

I clearly spoke too soon back in June, but it does appear that we're trending toward "normal" rates of mortality again. 🙏

The Delta spike that lasted for a month in Aug/Sept saw excess mortality sustained at 20-35%. A damn shame knowing we have a solution at our disposal.
