@seamuscoffey@EU_Eurostat@CSOIreland I have also analysed the https://t.co/cDwKvOKlRf data and I believe that the supposed excess mortality since July 2021 is a mirage. My best guess so far (though I need to do more checks) is that new undertakers have registered with https://t.co/cDwKvOKlRf since July 2021.
2/ Here is an estimate of excess deaths over the course of the pandemic, using two different baselines (2018 and 2019). About 250 to 300 excess deaths over the last month, but official figures for deaths with COVID are less than half that. @HIQA@hpscireland
@IrishDataViz@seamuscoffey@HIQA@HSELive@hpscireland I deliberately excluded the 24th and the 25th of Feb from the graph because they are affected by the issue you describe. But based on past experience, the numbers for the days leading up to then will barely increase if I regenerate the graph in a week.
@ed_diggins@seamuscoffey I'd say very little. The slope of the blue line in @seamuscoffey's graph hasn't changed much because the number of deaths is roughly normal for this time of year (see my graph). Anyway, not much point focusing on 2018 – it was exceptional. https://t.co/qqaMTslD8P
Daily deaths remain below the avg for this time of year (77 approx). Possible explanations: 1) just chance, 2) the deaths of some people were "brought forward" by COVID, or 3) some funeral directors are not posting notices

@seamuscoffey I believe they stopped in April as the number of deaths rose sharply. I know of a family that were recommended by the funeral director not to post a notice so that people wouldn't call around to the house. I'll see if I can quantify the effect.
Death rates look like they are back to normal. However, I have noticed that some funeral directors seemed to stop posting notices on https://t.co/cDwKvOKlRf. If true, there are more deaths than these graphs suggest.

Here is the latest in terms of 'excess posts' to https://t.co/fjxLUVWyQf
It looks like the total excess has been ~1,500.
If you follow the @FT/@jburnmurdoch's tracker, that's around +24% for Ireland.
Excess posts have reduced to 0 since around 20th May.
