Research should not sit on a shelf or remain hidden behind journal pages. It should inform, empower and support real people, families and communities.
That is why sharing the message matters.
Please explore and share the #UNBIASED resources here:

2/3 But some of the most meaningful outputs have been the resources co-created and co-developed with people with lived experience, including infographics, videos, animation and leaflets for clinics for families and HCPs.
For our national @DUK_research funded #UNBIASED study, conceived from #DRSG7#Diabetes Research Steering Group for Children&Young People, the impact goes far beyond academic papers. To date, the work has resulted in five publications, with a sixth currently under review. 1/3

For over two decades, I have walked the path of being both a mum and an advocate. It has been a journey filled with love, learning, resilience, and a relentless determination to ensure that my son and others like him are seen, heard, and supported.
Findings from our UNBIASED study reveal additional barriers that can prevent some children from ethnic minority & lower income communities accessing, or effectively using, diabetes tech. And practical recommendations to support more equitable access.

UNBIASED, led by Chief Investigator @mayng888, spoke to children from ethnic minority backgrounds or deprived areas, & their families, about the challenges they face & what they think could help.
While healthcare professionals also shared their perspectives & ideas.
2/3 of our International Diabetes Transition Working Group met at #ispad2025 across ADA, ISPAD& EASD. A wonderful chance to reflect on what we’ve achieved over the past 2 years, this collaboration has led to 4 publications,3 more on the way- commitment to improving #transition
1/3 Our 3rd publication from the @DiabetesUK-funded #UNBIASED study, which aims to unravel the impact of ethnicity and deprivation on diabetes technology disparities in the United Kingdom is out now.
Please do share the first of several publications from our findings of the @DiabetesUK funded #UNBIASED national study, which addresses a pressing issue of health inequalities in access to diabetes technologies for individuals living with #Type1#diabetes in the UK.
Key Highlights:
1️⃣ Bridging the Digital Divide
This national study explores the impact of ethnicity and socioeconomic deprivation on access to diabetes technologies such as continuous glucose monitors #CGMs #pumps #HCls (hybrid closed loops). By understanding these disparities, the study aims to shape inclusive solutions that ensure equitable care for all, regardless of background.
2️⃣ Healthcare Professionals' Perspectives
A dedicated qualitative study delves into the views of healthcare professionals, offering crucial insights into barriers faced by children and young people #CYP from under-represented groups. These perspectives are key to designing strategies that dismantle inequities and promote universal access to life-changing technologies.
Key Findings: Persistent Inequities: Without targeted interventions, technology inequities are likely to persist among CYP from the most and least deprived areas and from white and ethnic minority groups in the United Kingdom.
3️⃣ Out Soon will be the perspectives from our Children, Young People and Families and Key recommendations
