It's been an absolute privilege to curate the #ViragoModernClassics list - a dream job for nearly 2 decades. I've worked with my literary heroes and some of the best people in the business.
But it's time to explore new challenges ...
"It has been a source of professional and personal pride to be at the helm of the VMCs"

Selling 2 tickets to see Kendrick Lamar in Cardiff. @TicketmasterUK doesn't seem to be listing them, even though I bloody well put them up for resale in May!

Hi @TicketmasterCS we bought tickets for @DownloadFest tomorrow but they aren't showing in the app (we have emails confirming purchase.) Opened a request through Fan Support which got as far as asking to comfirm details. But nothing since yesterday and need to travel soon. Help!
@BretsTypeWriter I think you have more faith than me. I'm with you about not wanting to start again - Insta is confusing and mainly shows me ads. My problem with Bluesky in the past was that there weren't enough people on it. Does seem that a mass migration is suddenly underway, though.
@Jazzy_witch So much to love: the fact they're covered in paint before it's even started; the broken pianos and TVs in the background; the musical water glasses. I wonder how many outtakes.
It's either a cheese dream or real - I think there's a video that ends with a massive marching band...
Is there any chance that you, @dieworkwear , would consider moving over to Blue Sky? You're about the only reason I'm still here. Come on, you know you want to.
@jennieg_author Ooh, I'm glad you posted this. I've been thinking of rereading this and 'The Cider House Rules', but have always worried it wouldn't live up to my memories of it.
Wherefore art thou, block-heeled platforms? Why didn't I buy in the summer? All the shops have now is stupid pointy kitten-heels/stilettos. Like we're back in 2002. I need dressy shoes for a *thing*, but I hate them all!
Distraught!
@HarrietGriffey They're really pretty, but I wanted a bit more height (though no pain). If Esska shoes would only fit me, they'd be my ideal. I saw loads that I liked in the summer.
It's not just booksellers. I've seen such a drain of middle-aged editors from the industry. As an agent said to me, 'We don't know who to send books to anymore; the editors are embryos'. Without diverse gatekeepers - including in age -publishers can't cater for diverse audiences.
Booksellers need to double-down on older readers or risk losing them to digital reading, James Daunt, m.d. of @waterstones and c.e.o. of Barnes & Noble, told a panel discussion held at @HachetteUK's London office ๐ https://t.co/wu5uA2XpHh
