25 PG Zoology (Entomology) students of Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University began their dissertation work at CSB-CTRTI on 15/5/26.
The inaugural session was addressed by Dr. S. Balasaraswathi, Director, CTRTI, along with respective guides supervising the dissertation work.
Smt. Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary, (Textiles) visited CSB-CTRTI, Ranchi, and reviewed the institute’s contributions towards Tasar silk research, technology development, and skill promotion. She also visited the CTRTI Museum showcasing Tasar silk technologies, reeling machines, yarns, and fabrics developed by the institute.
An interaction was held with stakeholders including ASRs, reelers, and SAMARTH trainees, where beneficiaries shared inspiring livelihood success stories. Certificates were distributed to SAMARTH trainees during the programme, and the Secretary appreciated the efforts of CSB-CTRTI in strengthening sustainable livelihood opportunities and promoting the Tasar silk sector.

Smt. Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, visited CSB-CTRTI Ranchi on 8th May 2026. During her visit she interacted with Adopted Seed rearers & SAMARTH trainees, and appreciated CTRTI’s efforts in research, innovation & skill development in Tasar sericulture.
Smt. Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary (Textiles), visited the Jharcraft Emporium in Ranchi and interacted with key stakeholders from the handloom and handicrafts sector, including artisans, designers, NGOs, and state officials.
The interaction was attended by the Managing Director, Jharcraft, Director Industries, and other representatives of the sector, focusing on strengthening artisan-led growth, design innovation, market linkages, and sustainable development of the state’s textile ecosystem.

During the meeting with the Hon’ble State Minister of Mizoram, we discussed the strategic initiation of Eri silk production to drive regional growth and innovation.
The Central Silk Board has successfully developed a pioneering Eri Silk Denim men's shirt through a landmark collaboration that bridges indigenous Fibre with modern design and market potential. This innovation opens new avenues for eco-friendly fashion and high-value textiles.
Our discussion focused on implementing this initiative to fortify the silk sector of Mizoram.

PGDS (Vanya Silk) trainees visited CSB-CMERTI, Lahdoigarh (27.04.2026) to learn Muga & Eri technologies. Dr. Kartik Neog, Director highlighted sector challenges & opportunities. The team later visited the Maidam of Lachit Borphukan, Jorhat, before returning to CSB-CTRTI, Ranchi.
