This is my new Twitter account as Northern Ireland’s Veterans’ Commissioner. Please note the change. I have a great team now in place ready to help me be the Voice of Veterans and help me ensure Veterans needs are met.
This Remembrance Sunday I had the great honour, as NI’s first Veterans Commissioner, to lay a wreath at Belfast City Hall to remember those who made the supreme sacrifice in both World Wars and other conflicts.
“We will remember them” #LestWeForget
Delighted to call in with the volunteers at Ballymena RBL poppy shop earlier in the week. I would like to encourage everyone to continue to support the @PoppyLegion this year and the various charities that do so much to support our veterans
Yesterday I had the privilege to accompany representatives of Cookstown RBL to lay a wreath at the grave of Brigadier J A Sinton VC who served in both world wars. Lest we forget
Wonderful to see Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal in Asda Ballyclare. Please everyone give generously this Remembrance .. I know everyone is struggling but these Charities are the key to helping Veterans from all corners of society. RBL at Asda store Ballyclare 10 to 4 daily.
Thank you to all the crew & particularly Capt Chris Smith (RN).I learnt a great deal & saw first hand a Royal Navy role that would entice anyone to join them.
This afternoon the Veterans Commissioner, Mr Danny Kinahan, was hosted by the Royal Navy(RN) aboard HMS Ranger. Mr Kinahan met with Captain Chris Smith RN, Regional Commander for Scotland & Northern Ireland to discuss the issues affecting RN veterans in NI.

While the Battle of Britain was not fought in the skies over NI, today we remember with pride those Ulstermen & women of the @RoyalAirForce who paid the ultimate sacrifice during WW2. We salute all of our veterans for their courage & selflessness, and offer them our full support
I retweet the words I shared for VE Day.They are as appropriate for VIctory in Japan Day & especially so with my father Robin in Burma with the 8th Belfast Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment Royal Artillery & Uncle Charles a POW on the Kwai.We will not forget them or their colleagues.
In 1945 Danny Kinahan`s Father announced the terrific news of VE Day to his Regiment in Burma, but that stunning piece of news was tempered by the knowledge that they still had to fight on and defeat the Japanese

Congratulations to the community in Whiteabbey @ANBorough for their community planting at Glenside - this includes seating areas, planted beds, features and wildlife walks. The community has come together to develop this space for all to use. 🏞️🌈🌻👏 @Translink_NI#ulsterinbloom

Once again excellent to see Ballyclare Together, some of its Volunteers, and support from A&NB Council all working together to deliver food parcels to those isolating or in need. Thank you everyone who has helped make this possible.
Very sad to hear that former Head of Music Mr Roy McKay has passed away. The strong musical heritage & legacy across NI that he has left is a massive tribute to his skill & dedication @BallyclareHigh @LoveBallyclare@bhsmus @BallyclareForum @AntrimGuardian@cllr_vera@DdeBK
Ministers should be scrutinised, even in these times
But we should also remember the emotional impact they must be going through
Robin Swann:
“I can assure members that there are nights when I do not sleep, when I think about what we are doing & what we have to do the next day"
Shame on the vile individual/s who threatened @RobinSwannMoH as he carries out the most difficult task in NI politics. When others passed the chalice this guy grasped it in 2 hands. He is relentlessly pursuing the best outcome for all with his expert team.
