What does #design mean in 2026?
In the latest episode of Colloquiapedia, @nookpod’s @ddfoc talks to us about the definitions and interpretations of design today, including:
• Design as a verb and its processes
• Design as a noun and what comes out of those processes, whether that be creative, product, industrial, systems, etc.
• The intersecrion (or not) of art & design, whereby the former is often best created from the unbridled imaginings of the individual, while the latter often works backwards to find a solution to a specific challenge or need
• The need to reconsider our physical working spaces, as we all navigate the at times slightly ‘culture wars’ journey we’ve all been on towards hybrid since lockdown
• And of course what conversation in the modern era would be complete without consideration of AI and the broader shifts taking place in the business ecosystem today!
The episode is now out across Apple, Spotify, Amazon, iHeart and of course YouTube if you prefer the visual!
"We can forgive a man for making a useful thing as long as he does not admire it. The only excuse for making a useless thing is that one admires it intensely."
— Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray (1890)
Since the Premier League commenced in 1992/93 Liverpool's matchday income has increased by 869%, the Consumer Price Index is up by 131%.
Appreciate that attendances have increased too, but by nowhere near the growth in ticket prices.
