This is my reflection on Shuvee’s old video resurfacing—where she mentioned Duterte, praised his efforts in the War on Drugs, and showed her friendly ties with Kitty Duterte:

First, I admit I somewhat expected that people raised in VisMin might be more tolerant of EJKs and more inclined to see Du30 in a positive light—especially since, as she herself said in the video, “sa lugar namin.” I do not take it against her if she has personal experience or knowledge on what happens in their community. Her statements are her opinions naman.

Anyway, I became a supporter based on what I saw in PBB: her readiness to back up Klang in the OA heated discussion, her instinctive dive into the pool, her consistent sportsmanship and competitiveness, and her character and personality (which I see genuine naman and consistent). Even more so when we saw how active she was in volunteerism and helping others.

All of that had nothing to do with her political stance at the time.

Now that this has come to light, as a fellow fan, I think we should be more open-minded about these things. Just because our political values don’t align doesn’t mean she’s someone you can’t have a meaningful discussion with—or even agree with at times.

While I respect that some fans can't compromise their principles—as they consider them non-negotiables—and therefore choose to stop supporting Shuvee, I believe for others who are thinking of abandoning the ship, also have to broaden their perspectives. There will always be people who do good work, even if they hold different political beliefs.

The reality is that we can't avoid people who we don’t share the same values and principles with—whether in religion or in politics. You simply get to know them, and along the way, you may agree or disagree with.

Personally, I will continue to support her. God bless you pa rin, @EtrataShuvee. God sees your heart, dear. ❤️
