@alisonrbcm The bottom line is hundreds of disability organisations opposed the Bill. We ignored that. Instead we elevated the opinion of one TV presenter as more worthy than literally millions of disabled peoples. We didn’t listen. That alone says how little value we put on their lives.
Oh what kind of society are we that deny care to our dying, and put disabled people at huge risk of being labelled ‘do not resuscitate’ by a health service that can’t see value in their lives. A shameful day. #AssistedDying
I can't believe this needs saying, but maybe, just maybe, what works for Esther Ranzen is not always the model that would work for everyone in society, particularly those without access to a PM who promises them a debate on legislation that suits their particular circumstances.
Devastated about what this means for our lives & communities. Sending love & solidarity to all the sick & disabled people who’ve shared their insight, experiences & fears! But particularly holding @thelizcarr@TheNotDeadYetUK & @Dis_PPL_Protest in my heart. #AssistUsToLive
Pin-drop moment in the House of Commons as @FloEshalomi passionately explains why current health inequalities & the risk of coercion means she cannot support the #AssistedDyingBill
I am a doctor and I have a disability
I am telling you without a shadow of a doubt
Doctors do NOT have the time or the understanding to protect disabled people from assisted suicide
Doctors will be killing vulnerable disabled people if this bill passes
In my documentary about assisted suicide, palliative care expert @kesleeman asks us to consider:
"There's a lot of talk about safeguards & that they will make the law 100% safe. But they won't. They can't. So the question we should be asking is 'how safe is safe enough for us?"
Smithfield butchers say 'sad for London' as market is set to close https://t.co/HkiejWOMP0 Is @LDN_Museum fighting this? or seeing as an opportunity? Genuine question but hope very much the former.

Thanks @wesstreeting for your empathetic, principled and humane stand on #AssistedDying. Legalising death by doctor puts every disabled person at risk. In a good society, everyone has a life worth celebrating. Be an ally. Support @Dis_PPL_Protest
Who’d have thought it’s important to read a book about women in a small country with an incomprehensible word in the title. But @elizajreid#SecretsOfTheSprakkar illuminates not only #Iceland, but offers gentle lessons on how to make the world a better place for women everywhere.
We’re excited to promote Circus Science by the Sea on Sep 20 with with our 1st-ever bilingual poster, in English & Irish, as part of our mission to make circus accessible to all. Check it out and join us for a day of circus magic with @scienceirel
