Some great news to start the week after the May Bank Holiday!
NI has passed a bill meaning it will become the first UK nation to provide free sign language classes for young people and their families.
Every deafblind person will communicate in a different way, and we provided evidence to the Committee working on the bill to make sure the specific needs and experiences of deafblind people will be reflected in its provisions.
It is a real step forward for young people in NI who use sign language to communicate. We will continue to work with all governments to make sure that policies and practices are put in place to ensure every deafblind person has the support needed to communicate and access information.
