In Pakistan there are over 1 million deaf children of school age, yet less than 5% attend school. FESF is bridging this gap via its Deaf Reach Program.
"We were never silent. You just weren't listening."
Sign language is the foundation of identity, community, and equal opportunity for millions of Deaf people. It is a fundamental right.
At Deaf Reach, we're building a more inclusive Pakistan — through quality sign language education, vocational training, and free digital learning tools.
True inclusion begins when society actively listens and builds accessible spaces for everyone. 💙
Imagine someone constantly interrupting you when you speak. It's not a good feeling, is it?
Respecting Deaf etiquette begins with visual awareness 🤟
When people communicate in sign language, walking between them or breaking their line of sight has the exact same effect as cutting off a spoken sentence. Clear eye contact and open sightlines are what let Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) conversations flow naturally.
This International Week of Deaf People, let's learn to give space, keep sightlines clear, and stay present. 💙

Our students took center stage to mark International Day of Sign Languages, bringing energy, creativity, and connection to our Karachi Campus.
Visitors from other companies and team members from our Head Office engaged with the students, who designed and led interactive activity stalls and welcomed everyone into their classrooms for collaborative games—a powerful demonstration of Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) in building truly inclusive spaces.
The celebration closed with reflections on the global significance of sign language rights, followed by a ceremonial cake cutting.
When we give Deaf youth the platform to lead, they show us what true inclusion looks like. Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and express themselves in a language of their own. 💙

Deaf Reach Center of Excellence Opens in Quetta
The inauguration of the Deaf Reach Center of Excellence marks a new chapter for Deaf children and youth in Balochistan, establishing the province’s first specialized Deaf education center.
Established in partnership with the Balochistan Social Welfare Department and the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), the Center will provide education, vocational training, teacher development, and digital learning.
By bringing these resources to Quetta, the Center creates pathways to learning, employment, and greater independence for Deaf children and youth.
Imagine living in a world where no one speaks your language.
For millions of Deaf people around the world, that’s an everyday reality. This International Week of Deaf People, we honor their journey and celebrate the power of sign language.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Rubina Tayyab last week.
Her loss is felt not just by her family, but by an entire community she gave so much of her life to.
Rubina featured in the very first Pakistani Sign Language (PSL) book, published in the 1980s. In the decades that followed, she played a central role in developing PSL resources—leading consultations on PSL vocabulary and appearing on camera to demonstrate signs for generations of learners.
We are profoundly indebted to Rubina for a lifetime of tireless effort in making PSL accessible to as many people as possible. Her legacy lives on in every person she taught, and in every hand that now signs because of her.
We pray that Allah grants her the highest ranks in Jannah, and grants her family and loved ones strength and patience in this difficult time. Ameen.

September is #DeafAwarenessMonth — a time to challenge misconceptions, advocate for equal access, and celebrate the rich culture of the Deaf community.
Deafness isn't a barrier to ambition, talent, or leadership. The real barrier is exclusion.
At Deaf Reach, we bridge that divide every single day through sign language, quality education, and career development—empowering Deaf youth across Pakistan to lead independent, fulfilling lives.
This month, join us in championing inclusion and celebrating what’s possible.
