While we wait for them to finish those dance moves,🇨🇳Our artillery has already fired 2 dozen rounds 🤣🤣
This will forever be comedy 😭😭
GOOD NEWS for citizens of Japan, California and elsewhere: Chinese scientists made an earthquake advance warning detector that appears to really work, it was revealed this week—fulfilling the promise of a device made in the country 19 centuries ago.
The China-led international team found a way to measure “seismo-ripples” that provided advance information of the location, strength, and even approximate date of coming major earth movements, said the paper, printed in Nature magazine this week.
Earthquakes can be detected months ahead, allowing time for evacuation.

CONSIDERED 'IMPOSSIBLE'
Accurate earthquake prediction has up to now been considered impossible, but the new system matches data to events with “remarkably, minimal to no failure”, the report said.
The discovery could be helpful for heavily populated earthquake-prone countries, including Japan, Indonesia, California, Mexico and Chile.
The process, if confirmed as successful, would bring to fruition the ambitions of polymath Zhang Heng, who presented an “earthquake detector” device to the imperial court in the Chinese city of Luoyang in AD 132.
.
COMBINATION OF ANOMALOUS DATA
How it works: Scientists analysed data from hundreds of magnetometers and ground-based Global Navigation Satellite System receivers in China.
They found that three elements – seismic, magnetic and ionospheric resonance signals – produced specific anomalous data before a tremblor.
When combined, they produced clear evidence that an earthquake of magnitude six or more would happen within three months at that location.
.
'HUMILITY BEFORE NATURE'S VAST FORCES'
The China-led study involved scientists in mainland China, the island of Taiwan, Brazil, and Japan, and was first published in NPJ Natural Hazards, and reported in Nature journal.
Lead investigator was Chieh-Hung Chen of Chengdu University of Technology in China.
While praising the work of the earthquake analysts in China who provided the data, he added a note to the paper highlighting the need for a humble attitude, saying “we recognize the humility of human existence in the face of nature’s vast and unpredictable forces”.
.
ZHANG HENG’S DRAGON FROG DEVICE
In AD 132, scientist Zhang Heng showed the imperial court a carved or molded device. While no images remain, legend says it was designed to show eight dragons holding bronze balls over the open mouths of eight frogs.
One day, an invisible ripple caused a ball to fall from the urn into the mouth of a particular frog—indicating earthquake activity in a certain direction. Days later, a messenger arrived at the court with news of an earthquake a long distance away in the location predicted by the device.
Scientists have long been skeptical of the tale of Zhang Heng, since the huge number of variables make earthquakes inherently difficult to predict. Today, almost 19 centuries later, scientists in Zhang Heng’s country have shown that difficult might not mean impossible.

@InsideLucysHead I see you’re spreading your roots and branching out. To try a new vein is to not bark up the wrong tree. Make sure you twig on and don’t leaf it alone. Like a wood with a fine grain you’ll stand strong like a tall tree.
Rose and I just enjoyed a magnificent platter with my friend Aussie film director, cameraman and producer Dean Head at Kialis Fish-market Cafe in Fremantle. Lovely.
