People are *breaking* down. Losing it. Losing people. One trauma after another after another. No breaks, no pause, no time to grieve or reflect. Mostly everyone I know is crashing. This is sad, unsustainable, + the impacts will be with us for years to come.
I remember after many non-violent BLM protests, all of us organizers couldn’t find a single place downtown to meet and decompress. Police were following us. At times we’ve literally had to drive out of town to find safety. This isn’t just white privilege, it’s black oppression.
When countless citizens lost voting rights to criminal offenses over marijuana possession, a White man trespasses onto the lawmaking chambers of the supposed free nation and lights a joint to parade his privilege. Read that as many times as you need to.
People were just allowed to leave? After forcing their way into a federal building, damaging federal property, ignoring law enforcement, and jeopardizing the safety of lawmakers, staff and the press?
