This week, we officially commenced sensitization and Teacher Dialogue Sessions across public schools in Abuja to better understand the current state of GBV prevention, the existing support systems available for boys within school communities, and to introduce teaching strategies that promote positive masculinity within the school environment.
These conversations with educators are already surfacing critical insights, lived experiences, and key gaps that must be addressed to strengthen safeguarding structures and create safer, more inclusive learning environments for both boys and girls.
We are encouraged by the openness, commitment, and collaboration demonstrated by teachers across participating schools, and we remain optimistic about the impact of these collective efforts in building stronger support systems for boys, while raising them to become active allies in the fight against GBV.
More updates to follow.

Dear Nigerian Men,
Lack of money is not the only cause of mental health breakdown, even though that’s what many of us were taught. The silent pressure to always be strong, to provide without pause, and to carry everyone else’s burden can slowly wear a man down. Emotional exhaustion, unspoken fears, broken expectations, and isolation are realities many men live with daily, often unnoticed.
It’s time to unlearn the silence. Start the conversation. Check in on a brother. Ask for help when things feel heavy. Mental health is more than money, and not having money at a particular point does not make you weak. Speak up, reach out, and choose support today.

It is often said that a child’s first point of contact is the home, and what a child consistently sees and experiences there is what they grow to exhibit. Attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs are shaped long before they are questioned.

Episode 3 of the #DearMen Radio Show opened up another honest conversation about the pressures Nigerian men carry every day, the pressure to be strong, to provide, to hide pain, and to “figure it out” alone.

We’ve seen it happen too many times.
In Nigeria today, millions of young #boys are growing up in some of the toughest conditions we’ve ever seen. UNICEF reports 18.3 million out-of-school children and over 7.4 million of them are boys. Many are pushed into early labour, forced into adulthood long before they’re ready.
From street-hawking to navigating unsafe environments, their daily struggles shape who they become. Yet conversations about boys’ wellbeing remain muted, hidden under the assumption that “they’ll be fine because they’re boys.”
But the truth is: many of our boys are not fine.
They face emotional pressure, harsh socioeconomic realities, and rising exposure to violence often without support, guidance, or safe spaces to express themselves. When boys are left without care, society feels the impact: cycles of violence, broken identities, and stalled potential.
If we want a safer, more empathetic Nigeria, we must give boys the intentional protection, investment, and support every child deserves. And that’s exactly what we stand for at @boyschampions

What does it cost a society when men are taught not to feel?

Episode 2 of the DearMen Radio Show unpacked how emotional suppression harms men, shapes families, and fuels generational cycles of silence.

Happy Father’s Day to our CEO, @NoelAlumona.
Thank you for being more than a leader, for being a father figure, a guide, & a role model to our Champions & so many young men. Because of U, these boys are finding their purpose & learning what it truly means to be men of character.
Men’s Mental Health is an integral part of our work at Boys Champions. At Boys Champions, we believe that it is okay for men to show and express their emotions, and this is exemplified through our mental health support program for men and our DearMenPod by Boys Champions.
