@batman10023@Jill_Jorgensen@HammSanchez@NYCSchools@elizashapiro@ChalkbeatNY Or folks who decided to leave when it was clear the DOE & NYC were going to ignore CDC guidelines and use their "own" cooked up science to create guidelines and wing it as they go..Our family is just 1 of many we know from our PS that "attended" last year and left this Summer.
@sallywhitebeane@HammSanchez@NYC_TeacherMom@UFT@NYCSchools@CDCgov My 2 sisters teach, had FT middle school all year, both supervised lunch periods, kids eating like normal, no vaccinations back then and no cases of teachers getting covid from students. If there's data that proves teachers have something to be frightened of, I'd love to see it.
@HammSanchez@NYCMayor@NYCSchools@CDCgov We needed good special ed, what I've found in doing my research is most smaller school districts are well resourced for this, vs NYC where I was told more than once by our PS that we should consider private school for my gifted adhd kid.
@HammSanchez@NYCMayor@NYCSchools@CDCgov Started school this week in Fairfield, no masks at recess or outdoors, two 15 minute masks breaks during the day, no covid testing. 7 day quarantine if less than 3 ft, most importantly, teachers here are vocal that kids need in person school, no uft retribution to worry about.
Do the psychopaths mandating masks in day care centers understand that many toddlers are in diapers?
That most take naps, and masks are removed so that they don’t suffocate and die in their sleep?
That masks are removed so they can eat and drink?
That kids aren’t small adults?
@icapflinn @MaudMaron Unvaccinated kids under 12 can dine indoors, which only highlights the hipocrisy, we went to dinner this weekend, indoor dining with our 2 under 12, adults had to show vax card, kids didn't have to wear masks at all!
@MagisterBracey @EpiEllie@LongCovidNYC Wait a minute, this might be the 2nd dumbest tweet I've read today closely competing with @epiellie for the worst.
@rweingarten@rweingarten This is not a good look, especially with the ongoing effort to try to encourage vax holdouts to get the vax. I don't know who manages your twitter account for you but you may want to make a change.
@galeabrewer What does the children have to do with it? It's the adults that should be getting vaccinated if they want to be safe...we know the schools were by far the safest place.
@adamTHX1138@arthur_samuels@HammSanchez The vaccines have a VERY high effectivity rate against death and severe illness, which was the whole point in the first place, if you can't acknowledge that to be true, I'm not sure what anyone could say to change your myopic perspective.
School is essential; keeping them closed didn’t harm kids. Safety is paramount; there shouldn’t be any vaccination requirements for teachers. Teachers are all incredible; it’s impossible to measure their output. How do the unions reconcile these views? https://t.co/AUuuHJc6qE
All their work was unpaid and under appreciated. By bolstering schools, they maintained property values everywhere. They maintained continuity in this country. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that Moms Saved America.
Parents - mostly moms - picked up the slack in education last year. They home schooled. They hired tutors. They learned physical therapy to help stretch out their children with CP. They quit their jobs. They made a million sacrifices to keep public education functioning last year
@LetOregonLearn@456trainMama@NYCMayor Yup! All last year, I picked up my 8yr old one 90+ degree day, he was bright red, felt like he was going to vomit & developed a bacterial infection on his face. It's just not right, CT isn't requiring masks at outdoor at schools, there's no reason for this requirement in NYC.
No mandatory testing at school, no quarantining of entire classrooms, no masks outdoors during recess/outdoor classes, 7 day quarantine for + cases, no issues with sharing items, no crazy cleaning protocals.
@KeepNYCSchools1@NYCMayor@DOEChancellor
Attended meeting led by BOE for CT town we're moving to in a few wks. While not happy my kids will be masking at school, was refreshing to hear all mitigation measures follow CDC guidance, no imaginary UFT MDs creating random policies
