I love writing in #Bengali—my first language—especially when it’s about stuff I care deeply about: #BiologicalMembranes, #MembraneProteins, #Lipids, and all those fascinating discoveries. What I really enjoy is coming up with new terms in #Bengali to match scientific ideas.
Our 2-year SERB @ANRFIndia grant was instrumental in establishing our lab and initiating experiments based on ideas from my postdoc. It produced three impactful papers and continues to fuel ongoing projects poised to deliver novel results.
After a year-long, thorough review process, it's incredibly rewarding to see our hard work—especially involving students—recognized and appreciated by the reviewers!
Fresh from our lab: A review published in Plant Physiology and Biochemistry comprehensively explores the role of #lipids in regulating #plant#membrane#transporters under #salinity stress.

In a major push for #AatmanirbharBharat in defence, Raksha Mantri Shri @rajnathsingh has approved the Execution Model for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (#AMCA) programme. The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) will lead the project in partnership with Indian industry. The model ensures equal opportunity for public and private sectors, allowing bids from Indian companies, joint ventures, or consortia. An Expression of Interest (EoI) for the #AMCA Development Phase will be issued soon. #MakeInIndia #IndianAirForce

#OperationSindoor: China and the United States have launched a propaganda campaign against India after the Indian forces put heavy costs on the Pakistani forces.
@palkisu tells you more.
Excited to share, we've received a ₹63 lakh research grant from the Department of Biotechnology @DBTIndia, India! for our research to transform biomass into high-value chemicals through the use of enzymes and electricity" collaboration with Vikas Tyagi and Debasish Mandal
Proteins are the powerhouses of modern science—used everywhere, from medicine to materials. It’s no surprise, then, that a recent Nature study found the three most cited scientific papers of all time are all about proteins.

While characterizing a set of amino acid substitutions, we identified a substitution in a plant Na⁺/H⁺ antiporter that conferred increased specificity for Li⁺!

Proteins fold like tangled threads! In 2010, I solved a knotted protein while solving its structure—an unexpected yet stabilizing feature. 6% of PDB structures are entangled! (PDB ID: 3NV9) (Sulkowska, 2020). Read more: https://t.co/jTUGCPjRyw
During my PhD, while learning structural biology, I encountered difficulties installing SHELX and sought his guidance via email. In a later exchange, he also clarified the difference between anomalous scattering and anomalous diffraction, further enriching my understanding.
We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of George Michael Sheldrick, a prominent figure in crystallography whose contributions have shaped the field for decades.
A full obituary will be published in Acta Crystallographica A in due course.

Using CryoNanoSIMS imaging, the plant plasma membrane Na+/H+ antiporter SOS1 is shown to also function as an intracellular Na+/H+ antiporter during high-salt stress!
