Debate Camp went well this week. Here's the crew that made it to the end. A few skipped out before their pizza party today, but we can't wait to see how the team shapes up this year. Thanks to the experienced debaters and their assistance!

Our seniors are ready to take on the world! Malerie will be going to Michigan State, Eliza to Texas Christian University, and Olivia to the UMKC School of Medicine. We are so proud of them and grateful for all the time and dedication they gave to the debate team!

Congrats to Eliza Turco and Colette Lawler for qualifying for the National Speech and Debate Association national tournament at today’s district qualifier! Colette was 2nd place in the House and Eliza was 1st place in the Senate. We are proud of you!

Colette Lawler placed 3rd at the State Tournament in Congressional Debate and she won a Socrates Award for her outstanding contributions to the debate community!

Great job to our girls who participated in the national circuit MILO tournament on Friday and Saturday!! Shoutout to our PF team Malerie Birkel and Olivia Hovey, our Congress girls Claire Bentley and Bailey Yale, and our very own CONGRESS CHAMPION Colette Lawler!!! Awesome job!!!

And at our own Marian tournament, in novice LD, Emma Kaczmarek went to quarters and was 6th speaker, Caroline McDonald went to semis and was TOP SPEAKER!!! They’ve been busy, but now they’re getting ready for Millard North next week, so stay tuned…. 😉😉

Sorry about the delays 😅, but here’s some catch up for what our debaters have been up to! At Bennington Gold Congress, Tessa Brooks was 3rd, Lucy Kalkowski was 4th, and Sanaa Slaughter was 5th!

Our small but mighty team of 2 at Westside tonight did amazing! Coventry made it to LD semifinals, and Colette got 1st and top PO in her varsity Congress house!!! Great job!!! ❤️🥳🤩

Our freshman debaters are making waves! Harshi, 6th place; Tessa, 1st place; Convetry, 2nd place. Combined with Colette’s 3rd place finish, the team finished third overall at today’s Cornhusker Challenge tournament. Great job, ladies!

And from Millard West last night, besides our CHAMPION PF TEAM (with Malerie also getting 2nd place speaker 🤩) our Congress girls did amazing! Tessa Brooks got 3rd in novice congress, and Colette Lawler got 4th in varsity congress!!

Malerie and Olivia are the CHAMPIONS of the Millard West tournament in the Public Forum division! They have earned a qualification to the Tournament of Champions!
