Instead of measuring a church by its attendance & budget, here’s another idea:
Let’s assess it by the quality of community life that disciples people to love well; a culture that equips individuals to have a 1st hand life w/God & a commitment to release people in their gifts.

Many Christians are holding on for dear life to maintain a place in society that is rapidly changing. But there’s nothing to fear.
Historically, Christianity has flourished most when it’s been on the margins.
@adamwnewsome@SundyBest Same. I remember those beautiful sunsets over the mountains on the parkway when I was heading back to school on Sunday evenings.
It is an organic process that goes far beyond mere behavioral tweeks to work deep fundamental changes at the very core of our being.
It is not something we can produce or manufacture, but it is what we need most."

Spiritual transformation is the process by which Christ is formed IN US - (1) for the glory of God, (2) for the abundance of our own lives, and (3)for the sake of others. 1/2
@evankw23 If we do a "great job" on vaccines, then less people die and our population stays the same or grows, right? I think he may be talking more about advances in reproductive health measures, which he did mention. In that case, the population would not rise as quickly???
The gospel is not just about God's grace offered to sinful individuals. It’s also about the formation of communities that demonstrate the life & love of Jesus.
The gospel always begins with what Christ has done, & needs to continue w/what Christ is doing through his new people.
I’m asking Jesus to cause my family & me to love not only his words but his ways. Exaltation of his words without emulation of his ways develops a body of believers with big mouths & small hearts, wholly convinced of their biblical rightness yet oddly bereft of Christlikeness.
“Our team couldn’t have done that. It must have been the OTHER team, PRETENDING to be our team.”
The belief that “our team” is incapable of evil - and “their team”incapable of good - is a big part of why things are the way they are today.
To my brothers and sisters of color: the double-standard on display yesterday was heartbreaking, infuriating, and shocking. I know you weren't shocked, and I'm sorry that I was. Wept with you this morning. Come, Lord Jesus.
He is the Lord. He will not only prove faithful. When he’s done what he intended to do, his goodness will put you face-to-the-floor. But he will do it in such a way that there’s no boasting in human flesh. Just worship from our lips. Wait and work, Loved of God. He is still Lord.
