His name is Evin Curtis Sims, he's 32 years old.

When officers caught up with him, police say he told them he couldn't remember where he was or what happened... but that he had picked up a rock "for his safety."

On September 19th, he was arrested for allegedly threatening people at the CATS Tyvola light rail station, where police say he threw an unknown substance on CHILDREN.

He was released from jail on September 22nd.

Five days later, Sandy was beaten to the ground at a gas pump.

Sandy had no idea who he was. In her words:

"I didn't do anything to provoke him. We didn't have a conversation, nothing happened."

He was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of "assault on a female" and one count of "communicating threats."

All misdemeanors.

Sandy said it best:

"It shouldn't take for someone to literally be st*bbed or m*rdered for someone to be put away for a while for assault."

@KayleeDMcGhee points to the reported botched-execution rate for lethal injection as she unloads on Tennessee's failed execution of Christa Pike and questions whether the country has become too "squeamish" about how the death penalty is carried out.

"Maybe the solution is for us to stop being squeamish as a society and to recognize that punishment is necessary and that maybe we're going to have to make some difficult calls about how it's handed down."

Kroger Fired a Kroger Manager for Being a Hero

Yes, you read that right.

Sixteen months later, the men who put him in the hospital have never been arrested.

Not one.

His name is Michael Self.

For 14 years, he ran the Kroger on North Decatur Road in DeKalb County.

On the morning of Saturday, May 24th, 2025, around 8:20 a.m., masked shoplifters walked out of his store.

An elderly employee followed them outside.

Cellphone video shows what happened next. The masked suspects swung a bag of paper towels at her.

Then they SHOVED her.

Michael ran out to help her.

"I literally just wanted to draw the tension away from my associates, get them to stop and everybody just be done," he said.

"As I got away from that door, someone hit me in the back of the head with something."

The video shows him on the ground.

He left Emory University Hospital with a concussion and staples in his head.

AND IT GETS WORSE.

Three days later, Kroger fired him.

Yes, after fourteen years a father of three was TERMINATED FROM HIS JOB for trying to protect an elderly woman.

The reason?

"He violated the company's shoplifting policy."

The termination letter, Michael says, accused HIM of starting the fight.

"I didn't even get to talk to the people that decided to fire me," he said.

So the rule is: watch the elderly cashier get shoved in the parking lot.

Do nothing to help her.
Keep your job.

Step in? You're the problem and you're fired

OH, and the Black men in the masks?

DeKalb County police say the case is "still open."

No names.
No descriptions.
No arrests.
AFTER 16 months.

They beat an old woman, cracked a man's skull open, and walked away with paper towels and their freedom.

The only person who has faced any consequence for what happened in that parking lot is the man who tried to stop it.

Michael is finally telling his side of the story because he is still fighting to clear his name and still looking for work.

29-year-old Joel Todd McLemore was standing outside a home on 16th Street in Lancaster, South Carolina when Demarcus O’Brien Foster pulled a gun and shot him in the head.

Joel was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died the next day — September 28, 2017.

Foster was convicted of murder in March 2019 and sentenced to life without parole. His prior record included a manslaughter conviction. Maryam Rivera and Quinterious Truesdale were charged as accessories after Rivera allegedly drove Foster from the scene.

Joel was a son and brother. His family lost him on what started as an ordinary night.

Never forget him.
