The institutions that demanded absolute trust during COVID burned through the one resource they needed most for the next crisis: credibility.

Now the withdrawals are hitting all at once. Florida is suing Pfizer and Albert Bourla over COVID vaccine claims. Justice Samuel Alito is revisiting the constitutional abuses of the pandemic. V-safe records revealed thousands of free-text reports describing serious problems that never became part of the clean public-facing story. Doctors who once trusted the system are publicly reversing course.

Every one of those stories drains the same account.

For years, the public was told to obey first and ask questions later. Trust the agency. Trust the pharmaceutical company. Trust the dashboard. Trust the expert. Trust the television doctor. Anyone who hesitated got smeared as dangerous, ignorant, selfish, conspiratorial, even criminal.

Then the records started coming out.
Then the lawsuits started landing.
Then the doctors started talking.
Then the constitutional wreckage got harder to pretend never happened.

And now a new disease scare emerges from Russia, complete with “another Wuhan” language, and much of the public reaction is basically a shrug.

That is catastrophic for institutions built on automatic compliance.

They trained people to associate emergency messaging with censorship, coercion, selective disclosure, moving goalposts, and moral blackmail. They spent years treating skepticism like a disease.

Congratulations. They cured millions of people of blind trust.

The next crisis may be real. It may be serious. It may demand public cooperation.

And the people issuing the orders may discover they already spent every ounce of credibility required to get it.

The next emergency may arrive only to find the obedience account has already been emptied.

CBS News' Camilo Montoya-Galvez asked Homan about deaths in ICE custody under Trump, claiming they "could set a new record high."

While Montoya-Galvez noted the Trump Admin was detaining far more illegal immigrants, he argued that couldn't be the sole reason.

Homan fired back by asking how many died in custody under Biden.

Montoya-Galvez sat silently for 4 seconds.

Homan asked again and again.

Montoya-Galvez had no idea what the answer was.

When he finally acknowledged he didn't have the data, Homan retorted: "Of course you don't."

Homan asserted Montoya-Galvez's question was an example of bias against Trump.

He also defended ICE's detention standards.

Deaths in ICE detention are tragic, no matter which administration they occur under.

But it doesn't seem like there was anywhere near as much attention on this issue under Biden.

Not only did Montoya-Galvez not know the data, it looks like he did not even cover ICE detention deaths under Biden.

No wonder Homan's question stumped him.

The Gaza narrative is coming apart, and the people who spent months shoving it down everyone’s throat suddenly have the memory of a fucking goldfish.

Genocide. Deliberate starvation. Famine. Journalists supposedly being systematically hunted. Casualty numbers blasted across headlines as unquestionable moral truth. Then the claims start cracking, the numbers get challenged, the story gets uglier and messier, and the same people who demanded absolute obedience to the original narrative act like none of it fucking matters.

That is the sickness Victor Davis Hanson is describing.

He points to the Steele dossier. Hunter Biden’s laptop. The 51 intelligence officials. Same goddamn pattern: explode the accusation across the country, poison public opinion while it matters, then shrug when the evidence catches up months or years later.

No reckoning. No shame. No fucking price.

Then Hanson turns the knife toward the right.

Thomas Massie. Marjorie Taylor Greene. Tucker Carlson.

His accusation is vicious: parts of the conservative movement became so consumed with attacking Trump’s Israel and Iran policies that they started carrying arguments toward political outcomes Tehran itself wanted.

Then Iran made the whole disgusting spectacle even harder to ignore.

The Iranian regime openly appealed to Americans to punish Trump politically.

Read that again.

Tehran is telling Americans what political result it wants while Americans are already doing pieces of the messaging work for them.

That is how an information operation wins.

You don’t need every messenger sitting in some smoky room taking orders. You need enough angry, gullible, ideological people convinced that repeating the message proves how independent they are.

The media swallowed the Gaza narrative.

Millions followed.

Parts of the right climbed aboard too.

And Tehran may have learned the most useful lesson of all:

It doesn’t have to manufacture every American propagandist.

🇬🇧🇺🇸 U.S. B-1B ("Bone") bombers are dispersed across RAF Fairford, as bomb-disposal teams continue operations in nearby Whelford, where several men were arrested on suspicion of explosives offenses.

The B-1B is a supersonic long-range bomber capable of carrying roughly 75,000 pounds of conventional weapons, and Fairford has been used by U.S. bombers for operations against Iran this year.

It remains unclear what the arrested men were allegedly planning, how prepared they were to cause damage, or whether the airbase was actually their target...

CBS just reported the Yin family, tied to suspected Chinese spy Christine Fang, poured $4.4 million into Newsom and other California Democrats. Henry Yin, C.C. Yin’s brother, served as a senior advisor to Rep. Ro Khanna. Swalwell asked that network for support. Newsom even got help arranging a China trip.

That is not a coincidence. That is a national security story Democrats want buried. America first means cutting Beijing’s pipelines into our politics.

He’s dealing with a major conflict involving Iran while one of the most important oil shipping routes on Earth has been disrupted. The EIA says disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz have directly contributed to higher and more volatile crude prices.

Washington is losing its fucking mind because Trump sat Xi down for dinner.

This is the same political sewer that survived the 2021 reporting that Gen. Mark Milley told China’s Gen. Li Zuocheng: “If we’re going to attack, I’m going to call you ahead of time.” Milley reportedly assured Beijing an American strike wouldn’t come as a surprise.

And now these assholes have discovered the mortal danger of fucking table settings.

Tammy Duckworth says Trump spends too much time “sucking up” to Xi. Roger Wicker complained about the lavish welcome. Suddenly the red carpet is DEFCON 1.

Where was this volcanic outrage when the chairman of the Joint Chiefs was reportedly promising China a heads-up about possible U.S. military action?

Marco Rubio put the issue in writing on September 14, 2021. He demanded Milley’s dismissal and warned that such conduct could gut presidential leverage and civilian control of the military.

Biden kept Milley around. Then, on his way out the fucking door in January 2025, Biden gave him a preemptive pardon.

Now Trump publicly receives Xi, conducts diplomacy in full view of the world, and Washington starts shrieking about “cozying up” to China.

What a breathtaking pile of horseshit.

A red carpet sends them into hysterics. A state dinner becomes a national emergency. A military officer reportedly telling Beijing he’d give advance warning of an attack somehow produced nowhere near the same sustained fucking panic.

That tells you everything about the priorities of this town.

Dinner with Xi gets treated like the scandal. Reportedly promising the PLA a courtesy call before the shooting starts got absorbed into Washington and eventually buried beneath a pardon.

That standard is fucking rotten.
