MtGox Justice Coin (MTGX) — Project Summary
The Problem
In 2014, MtGox collapsed after a massive hack, leaving hundreds of thousands of people around the world with nothing. The Japanese court rehabilitation process recovered some funds, but only creditors who successfully completed a complex, bureaucratic verification process received anything. Many victims — especially smaller holders, non-Japanese speakers, or people who simply didn't know they could claim — got nothing and were forgotten forever.
That's not justice. That's an open wound that has never healed.
What Is MTGX
MTGX is a new coin built for one purpose: giving every MtGox victim — verified or not — a second and final chance at justice. It is an independent project. It requires no permission from anyone, no changes to any existing blockchain, and no court approval. It is built by the community, for the victims.
Who Gets the Airdrop
Two groups:
1. Verified creditors — people already in the official Japanese rehabilitation database. Their balances are known exactly. They receive MTGX proportional to what they were owed at the time of the collapse.
2. Unverified victims — people who had accounts on MtGox but missed the claim window, couldn't navigate the Japanese legal process, lost access to their old email, or simply didn't know they could file. They get a new open claim window of 24 months to come forward and prove their account existed using any reasonable evidence — old MtGox emails, transaction records, Bitcoin forum history, exchange records, screenshots, anything.
The claim process will be open, transparent, and designed to be far simpler and more accessible than the original court process ever was.
Total Supply
729,956 MTGX
This number is not random. It is made up of two parts that tell the whole story:
650,000 MTGX — mirroring the approximate total BTC that MtGox customers were owed at the time of the collapse
79,956 MTGX — exactly matching the stolen BTC that have sat untouched in the hacker's address since 2011, to this day
Those 79,956 tokens are permanently reserved and locked in a designated wallet, acting as an on-chain memorial to the theft. They will never be sold, never distributed, and never touched — a permanent reminder of what was taken. If the original stolen BTC ever returns to circulation through any means, those reserved tokens have a defined role waiting for them.
