Nvidia has been getting quite creative with its accounting since the beginning of 2023. Nothing new to us: whenever something is not convenient for Nvidia (Singapore's revenue?), or they somehow feel the need to clarify things to investors as if they were kindergarten kids (while forgetting that they are not), they add some disclosures, just in case, you know.
Now, this quarter, for the first time, Nvidia completely changed how it reports revenue under its segments, collapsing it into basically two segments only: Datacenter and Edge Computing. Within Datacenter, they no longer break out for us what came from GPUs versus Networking. Instead, they now report by customer type, Hyperscalers versus Neoclouds.
Historically, companies change their segment reporting when they have something to hide, or when revenue starts to look different from what the market expects.
An article is coming.
rip 7-11 don, the platonic ideal of a successful entrepreneur who transformed things in the real world without any bullshit self-promotion, we should all fucking learn from him
The man who made the conbini a global institution had a simple rule: If everyone hates your idea, youβre probably onto something.
My latest is on the late Toshifumi Suzuki, the rebel behind 7-Eleven and the conbini revolution. Free to read:

Petraeus: The U.S. has not remotely learned the lessons it should from Ukraine.
This is the future of war: Ukraine alone uses 10,000 drones a day, and 90% of Russian casualties are caused by drones. That should force institutional change. 1/
@disconcision When Microsoft created "My Computer" and "My Documents", they demonstrated they did not understand the point at all.
The entire thing is my computer. They are all my documents.
Look guys, it's actually really straightforward, a bunch of people staked their ETH on the Ethereum blockchain to earn yield, except they didn't want their capital to be locked up, so they actually staked with a liquid staking protocol called Lido who provided them a liquid staking receipt token called stETH, except they decided to juice their yield further by depositing their stETH receipt tokens into a restaking protocol called Eigenlayer, except they didn't want to lock up their capital, so they actually restaked with a liquid restaking protocol called KelpDAO who provided them with a liquid restaking receipt token called rsETH, except they decided to juice their yield further by depositing their rsETH tokens into a lending protocol called Aave so that they could open a leveraged looping position that borrows ETH against the rsETH collateral and restakes the ETH into rsETH which is then deposited as collateral, except it turns out rsETH used a cross-chain bridge called LayerZero that was hacked by north koreans causing rsETH to become undercollateralized and now these looping positions are stuck and unprofitable, and everyone is pointing fingers at each other, and also DeFi is a very serious industry
