A student led campaign tackling the BAME awarding gap, the hostile environments towards students of colour at Sussex, coloniality and institutional racism.
This is going to be my 3rd straight Eid without family, such is corporate life. But it got me thinking, how many people don't have a choice? Some people literally have nothing, especially in Brighton. So how can we make a difference?

In today's meeting we'll continue planning events for Black History Month, discuss our joint crafts fundraising event for @AfroriBooks with @BAMESussex@DevSocSussex and talk about other recent events on campus. Fulton 102, 6-8pm and there is the option to join online!
We are hosting a coffee evening as our first meeting of the new term tonight in Room 76 (Falmer House) from 5pm onwards. All are welcome, whether you've been involved in Decolonise Sussex before or not. Grab a hot drink and talk all things decolonising with us! (free snacks too!)
Absolutely incredible meeting (in hybrid) with @DecoloniseS today on decolonising the curriculum, what it is, what it should be, and how to make sure students and staff working for liberation are at the forefront of "co-producing" and decolonising efforts
We don't need a repeat of
@KingsCollegeLon racist surveillance and prevent support by sharing students' info with the cops. Our institutions aid state violence, esp against the most marginalised student organisers. We need an intervention
@nusuk
In light of recent events on campus and social media, we want to offer support & resources to trans and non-binary students. We oppose transphobia and want our University to be a place where all trans people receive support and solidarity.#sussexsu#ussu
We stand with our Trans community - forever and always.
When Trans and non-binary students make clear they’re feeling unsafe on campus, it falls to the university to keep them safe.
Your struggle is ours. We’re with you. 🏳️⚧️
✨Join us on Monday 6-8PM for our first IN PERSON meeting of term!
📍Jubilee Building JUB-G22
It doesn't matter if you're new to us or a long time member, come along to get involved! We'll have a social at Falmer Bar after.
Please wear a mask unless exempt & social distance.
🚨OPEN ASSEMBLY WEDNESDAY 6PM🚨
We need everybody who is striking to come to this meeting. We can win a better offer from the uni if we keep striking. At the meeting, we will discuss why we think we can win more, what this means for strikers, and decide what we need to do next.
Just as UK's borders are a colonial construction, Israel is a settler-colonial country responsible for the continued ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
@UnisNotBorders stands in solidarity w/ Palestinians in Gaza, occupied Jerusalem & West Bank, & in the diaspora. 🇵🇸 (1)
Settler colonialism - form of colonialism that seeks to replace the original population of the colonized territory with a new society of settlers

I hope the folks who've been cashing in on the word "decolonising" in the title of every article and event over the last year have their eyes on East Jerusalem right now. Israeli forces are throwing Palestinians out of their homes and beating the protestors who try to stop it.
