Red Dawn's opening paratrooper invasion is one of the most jarring opening sequences in 80s cinema.

Other than the foreshadowing history lesson previously discussed, it shatter any semblance of American suburban peace. War is some place else in the world, never in our backyards.

No adult or authority figure is coming to save these kids. In fact, that's the first casualty, Mr. Teasdale. No questions asked. No banter back and forth. The protective safety net completely wiped out in a blink.

Within 3 minutes the audience, much like the characters, don't have time to process anything really. Politically you have no idea why this is happening. What the motivation behind the attack is. Survival is the only instinct that matters in this moment.

Jed doesn't pick up an AK and starts blasting away. He scoops up his brother and a couple classmates with only one goal in mind. Get the hell out of there alive.

🚨 POLICE SHOOTOUT: WANTED FELON OPENED FIRE IN OKC

Oklahoma City Police officers were searching a travel trailer for wanted felon Timothy Johnson when he ambushed them with a handgun from inside a bed frame storage area.

All three officers returned fire and fell back. After a standoff, the OKCPD Tactical Unit made entry and found Johnson deceased. One officer was injured by flying debris during the shootout.

UPDATE: Second Fatal Robbery by the SAME SUSPECT.

Parolee Jesus Acosta, 31, is wanted for fatally shooting a Brooklyn fast-food worker in the head and a Bronx deli customer in the chest during armed robberies just 48 hours apart, both caught on surveillance.

Around midnight Sunday at American Best Wings & Pizza on Rockaway Avenue in Brownsville, he shot 44-year-old MD Yousuf in the head, killing him, and wounded a 39-year-old co-worker in the leg.

Then just after midnight Tuesday at 149 Grill & Deli on East 149th Street in the Bronx, surveillance shows him walking in, opening fire on a 33-year-old customer who later died, pointing the gun at employees, grabbing cash from the register, and fleeing after ditching his maroon hoodie nearby.

His parole officer recognized him from the video. Acosta got out in April after serving 10 years for a 2015 Harlem subway shooting and has 13 prior arrests. He has “Bronx” tattooed on his hand and “Bobby” on his forearm.
