It is wrong to put pressure on Russia, so you must change your approach and, as before, silently acquiesce to all the crimes of the Kremlin.

In this article by a Putin-aligned oligarch, there isn’t even a hint that it is Russia that needs to change its approach - to stop spending half its budget on war, to release journalists, artists, scientists, and environmentalists from prison, to stop killing people and destroying residential buildings, hospitals, museums, and kindergartens in Ukraine.

And most importantly, to stop this bloody war that has already caused more than a million Russian casualties alone.

And if that is the case, then it means the approach of democratic countries is correct. We must keep up the pressure. The cost of war for Putin must become higher than the cost of peace.

And then peace will have a chance.

VOLKER: As long as Trump is President, Ukraine's NATO membership is off the table. He views that as unnecessary, as provoking Russia.

But when you look beyond Trump's presidency, I believe it's only solution that makes sense.

Ukraine will have largest, best-armed, best-equipped, most battle-hardened military in Europe.

It will be real advantage to NATO if Ukraine were to become member, and that would be the best way to deter future Russian attacks by having Ukraine in the alliance.

We don't need different security regimes in Europe, some for some countries, some for others.

Bilateral security guarantees or assurances that'll be made by several countries will not be as strong and effective as NATO membership.

So, it's not going to happen in the next couple of years, but it is what should happen in the medium term.

Eleven people, including a child, have been injured in Kyiv during last night's Russian attack. Civilian infrastructure was hit even before the air raid alert was issued. Emergency crews are working at the sites of the strikes – apartment buildings, offices, and a theological seminary were damaged in the capital. Recovery efforts are also ongoing in the Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions.

Over the course of the night, Russia launched more than 120 drones and 12 missiles, half of them ballistic. Our defenders managed to shoot down most of the targets – but not the ballistic ones.

We expect our partners to deliver on their promises regarding support packages agreed at the NATO Summit to help protect our people. We must move as swiftly as possible on licensing agreements for Patriots and the joint European anti-ballistic defense project. Following numerous Ukrainian attacks on vessels, Russia has halted shipping traffic on the Azov-Don Canal. Russia routes approximately one-quarter of its grain exports via this waterway.

The number of vessels hit today (predominantly tankers) has risen by 28.

In total, Ukrainian forces have struck 76 (!!!) vessels over the past five days.
