@ZombieGirl_5591@kat__writes What do you believe my intention to be?
I’ve stated it many times, but many seem to be intent on holding to their own assumptions.
Why this conclusion?
How does holding regard and love for one’s family and fellow man a bit higher than an animal in someone’s heart imply that person is cruel, uncaring, and contain malice?
My livestock comes running and frolicking when I call them, my horses allow me to ride without bridle or saddle, and my dogs seem to adore me, always excited at training time or play. I’ve had to teach my current one a firmer “release” so he understands I need him to go away and not be underfoot.
Are those attributes of animals mistreated and untrusting?
Why does placing fellow man in higher regard than animals equate to what you’ve assumed? Please enlighten me.
From what life experience brings you translate someone’s choice to maintain their loved ones in a higher place in their hearts than their pets to imply a lack of care and cruelty to all animals?
My cattle willingly follow me and come galloping and frolicking when I call. My horses allow me to ride without bridle or saddle, and my dog seems to adore me.
Are those the attributes of abused animals?
I simply said I hold the love I have for my family and fellow man in a higher place in my heart than animals.
That in no way means I am cruel, uncaring, or have malice towards them.
How do you draw the conclusion you have assumed? Please help me and others understand this.
Thank you for sharing.
Oft rescues are the best.
My clinging mutt, “Harry” (the Dirt Dog), is one of those.
More loyal than my shadow.
Usually, “okay” - (which is you can do what you want) would be sufficient and he’d trot off to find something to chew on or a water trough to dive in before wallowing in dirt. I’ve had to teach a new command that he understands as “go find something else to do other than be under my feet tripping me up while I’m working, but don’t go far, I’ll call when I need you.”
He loves learning new stuff. He’ll help pick up black walnuts and put them in buckets.
Anyway, thank you again for sharing!
I’d agree it not unusual to harden in some aspects of our personalities and values, while softening in others.
I’ve done the same myself.
The mixture of harsh criticisms, threats, name calling, and other bitter insults along with understandings and agreements with the point of view I’ve expressed has certainly my demonstrated as much.
Thank you for sharing this with me.
Slaughter, for food and a vast array of useful and necessary products.
Suffering? No. We, myself and most in this industry take extraordinary measures to eliminate suffering by our animals.
We also try to minimize fear and discomfort as much as possible.
Many here have jumped to conclusions just as I did. We took our assumptions and biases regarding others and ran with them.
Where mine were incorrect, I apologize.
Valid. I do not disagree.
My point was to demonstrate that it is not like smallpox or rinderpest which have been eradicated from all but lab samples.
Additionally, attempts to weaponize Yp in the past have not been successful for reasons which will require quite exceptional breakthroughs in genetic manipulating technology.
Finally, there are multiple antibiotics with quite different modes of action against bacilli type bacterium’s, each of which would require exceptional efforts to develop resistances.
Not impossible, just unlikely to have been achieved.
@real_neville@naughty_mentor@kat__writes Thank you for your viewpoint.
I’ll look at what I’ve said and try not to come across that way. It does appear I did not deliver my message as I intended.
I do discern the reasonable from the zealots. I’ll pay attention to reason.
You’ve no idea what my relationship has been with my 4-H show calves that I raised from bottle, trained at halter, walked them many miles, groomed daily, competed in hundreds of livestock shows, and finally sold.
Horses I put thousands of hours of training into, the relationship between rider and mount such that it seemed the horse would anticipate what I wanted or needed before I could get the subtle cues into a change in pressure on my knees, calves, heels, or a shift in body weight, or my dogs that greet me, follow every step, look to try and follow my every word listening for a command and doing it with fervor because they want the next “good dog”.
Ma’am, I have been accused of much by people who seem to only know a few pets.
I’ve trained cattle to be ridden, I’ve trained dozens of horses using the most gentle of methods because there is no reason to “break” them. I’d rather have a partner than a servant. It just works better with herd animals teaming up with a predator.
Dogs are a pack animal and must be led by an Alpha. I can achieve that with body language, tone, and voice. Again, no need for force.
Many have assumed that my viewpoint must mean something vile and disgusting to them. What I see is a lack of understanding and personal biases.
@junosmith7@JayDeefmxh@TheJellyMan@naughty_mentor@kat__writes My original intent wasn’t baiting. I realized it would elicit the exposition of some firmly held opinions and some bile. I did not expect, nor intend, the magnitude!
However, the venom and bile expressed by some certainly demonstrates what I said about being fully gut hooked.
@MouthyOldBat@kat__writes No. She’s human and my love for her is the unlimited type you mention. Same for my children.
I care for my animals, but that love is necessarily different.
@SinbadHuxley@kat__writes Maybe the latter, not the former.
I acknowledged my perspective would be different, just as I acknowledged the young ladies loss.
We disagree. Ok! Why condemn and resort to ad hominem?
Animals are not humans.
I can not place an animal on the same tier as my family. I do not view my father as a dog, rather, aardvark, or manatee.
I miss my dog that passed at 14 this summer. She was a great dog.
If you do, that’s for you to decide.
We disagree, why is that worthy of condemning my viewpoint?
