In a normal Hindu lunar year, there are 24 Ekadashis:

🌙 1 in Krishna Paksha — waning moon
🌕 1 in Shukla Paksha — waxing moon

That means 2 Ekadashis every lunar month.

12 in Uttarayan -(Sun rising North
12 in Dhakshinayan -(Sun going South

In an Adhik Māsa / Purushottam Māsa year, 2 extra (Padma) Ekadashis are added — making the total 26.

Over the years, many non-Bengali friends have asked me the meaning of 'Khela hobe'

Initially, I told them it was a political slogan by the TMC and that it meant to 'have a game.' I was wrong.

It was only later that I understood what TMC actually meant by 'game' when it coined the term in 2021.

'Khela hobe' was, in fact, a dog whistle from Mamata Banerjee. It was a signal to her lapdogs in TMC to unleash violence against rival political workers, particularly the BJP.

'Khela Hobe' thus became synonymous with brutal murders, rapes and arson attacks orchestrated by the TMC regime following the 2021 West Bengal election results.

Even years later, it became an instrument to intimidate and silence critics.

I have lost count of the number of times some choti-chata in TMC threatened on social media -

"Dekhis, tor songe khela hoye jabein."

It was a veiled threat. The message was clear: Don't dare to speak against Didi, or we will silence you forever.

I now tell non-Bengalis that the 'Khela Hobe' slogan carries the blood of many people of Bengal and that they should never use this term as a joke.

The silver lining is that after yesterday's election result, we have officially gone from 'Khela Hobe' to 'Khela Sesh' (game is over).
