What I think IS wrong is a parent trying to keep the Santa lie a secret forever, and taking pride in the child now advocating for the lie themselves, when the parent knows full well the Santa stuff is bullshit.

@riahthelee Had this problem a few years ago. Find their trail and sprinkle diatomaceous earth along it. Get food grade because it's safe for pets or little ones running around.

Also I used a mixture of water and vinegar in a spray bottle to kill on contact.
