I think when you die, your brain permanently stops functioning and your consciousness ends with it. You don’t experience darkness, silence or an eternity of nothing. There’s simply no experience at all.
I see no convincing reason to believe we wake up somewhere else. This life is the one we know we’ve got, and that makes how we spend it matter even more.
You’ve taken Jewish scripture, interpreted it through Christianity, then decided Jewish people don’t understand their own book.
That’s quite an accusation from someone borrowing their scriptures.
What establishes that the entire Tanakh is about Jesus, beyond Christians interpreting it that way?
@Emilpolitik@elonmusk Where did I say they imprisoned ONLY socialists?
They persecuted opponents across the political spectrum. That doesn’t change their fiercely anti-Marxist, ultranationalist ideology.
You’ve inserted a claim I never made, argued against it, then accused me of having an agenda. 😂
If there’s no afterlife, murder deprives someone of the only life they’ll ever have. That makes the loss more final, not less important.
You’ve jumped from “there’s no eternal judgement” to “how you live doesn’t matter”.
Where’s the argument connecting those two claims?
"I mean, first of all, if there is no eternity, there is no God, there is no afterlife, there is no judgment, it ultimately doesn't matter whether you live as a murderer or a missionary, whether you live as, say, Tyler Robinson or Charlie Kirk, because we're all going to wind up in the same place: nowhere. We're just going to go out of existence if there is no God, if there is no judgment, if there is no afterlife. So that's the most important message."
@Opaopa13 That’s a nasty little feedback loop. Convince people that rejection means they’re doing god’s work, and suddenly every negative reaction reinforces their beliefs.
Whether it’s deliberate or not, criticism becomes validation. That’s the worrying part.
Getting mocked is a flex now? 😂
So someone laughs at your beliefs and you award yourself a victory?
That’s a brilliant little system. You can be completely wrong and still walk away feeling like a champion.
Finally found my bible after losing it for weeks. 😂
You know how people say you can open the bible at random and find wisdom or inspiration?
Well, I’m putting that to the test. Random page, random passage, and we’ll see what we find.
No cherry-picking. Whatever comes up, comes up.
@OctoberFerguson I like that. You can find wisdom in all sorts of books without believing they’re divinely inspired. 😂
I’m curious what the bible throws at me when I stop letting anyone choose the passages.
Let’s piss off a religious person today. 😂
No insults, no made-up nonsense. Just facts, uncomfortable questions and the same scrutiny they’d apply to somebody else’s religion.
If questioning your beliefs feels like an attack, perhaps ask yourself why.
I understand you mean spiritually dead.
But describing someone as spiritually dead, then calling their conversion “coming alive”, doesn’t establish that anything supernatural happened.
What distinguishes divine intervention from an ordinary change in someone’s beliefs and behaviour?
You’ve listed questions you think atheism can’t answer, then declared Christianity the winner because it offers answers. But an explanation being available doesn’t make it true.
Which of those questions actually establishes the existence of the Christian god, rather than simply giving you somewhere to put him?
Why does Atheism fail?
It fails because it can’t carry the weight of its own claims.
It needs: • A universe that begins without a cause
• Rational minds from non-rational processes
• Objective moral outrage without an objective moral standard

You still haven’t established your argument. You keep comparing abortion to murder without demonstrating why every abortion qualifies.
And Plan B prevents ovulation. It doesn’t terminate an existing pregnancy.
How exactly does preventing an egg from being released amount to starving a human being to death?
You’ve repeated “abortion is murder” as though saying it twice establishes it. The commandment prohibits murder. It doesn’t establish that abortion falls under it.
And the bible has multiple human authors. Claiming Jesus inspired them is a separate theological argument.
Can you actually defend your conclusion?
@JonnyThom157564@DrFrankTurek You’ve called abortion “murder”, then used that label to declare how Jesus would vote.
But the gospels don’t record him discussing abortion, let alone instructing Christians how to vote.
What establishes that your political preference is his?
Lew, the problem is that Frank defines “conservative” so broadly that almost anyone could qualify, including liberals.
If he simply means preserving what you believe is good, his conclusion is trivial.
If he means political conservatism, he hasn’t established the connection. Which is it?
They’re unveiling the ark of the covenant like it’s a new Mercedes at a dealership.
Give it another Sunday and they’ll wheel out the golden calf with a contactless donation terminal fitted to its forehead. 😂
Wendell, atheists aren’t required to believe a single one of those five claims.
And asking you to justify your beliefs isn’t demanding absolute certainty.
You’ve assigned us an entire worldview, then attacked it. Why not challenge what we actually believe?
Atheism’s favorite move is to demand absolute certainty from Christians…
while living on a mountain of assumptions.
• The universe just “is” • Life just “happened” • Morality is just “useful” •Consciousness is just “emergent” • Truth is just “whatever works”
@Truth_matters20 Danny, “true Christian” seems to mean anyone who agrees with you.
Catholics also regard scripture as god’s word, yet reject it as the sole authority.
So what actually makes your interpretation correct and theirs wrong? Your confidence isn’t the deciding factor.
