Kevin Nash played Center for Tennessee from 1977-1980. In 1979 the Vols won the SEC Tournament & recorded their first NCAA Tournament win.
Following a game at Kentucky where he was ejected for throwing a punch, Nash got into a physical altercation with head coach Don DeVoe.
Just spotted this on reddit earlier. Kevin Nash shows up to Tennessee basketball player Dale Ellis's retirement, and gets ignored over and over. Cringing watching it, the poor sod. Clearly he's read the Death of WCW and took it personally.

Chris Taylor wrestled for Iowa State University where the heavyweight won the NCAA Championship in 1972 and 1973.ย
Taylor's opponent in the 72 final was another elite college wrestler who turned pro: Toledo's Greg Wojciechowski aka The Great Wojo.

RIP and respect to Chris Taylor who passed away on this date in Pro Wrestling History, June 30th, 1979 at the age of 29. A massive super-heavyweight wrestler (often over 400 pounds), Taylor was an Olympic silver medalist in freestyle wrestling (1972 Munich Games) before turning pro. He had a brief but memorable career in the AWA and other territories, where his size made him a curiosity attraction in the 1970s.
Tragically, he passed away young at age 29 from complications related to his weight and health issues. Despite his short time in the spotlight, he remains one of the largest legitimate athletes to compete in pro wrestling. A true giant of both amateur and professional wrestling.
Doug Furnas played RB for the Tennessee Volunteers from 1981-82 and had a short but stellar career as a powerlifter.
Furnas still holds the men's collegiate national records in squat and deadlift in the 242 lb weight class, which he set on 3/26/1983, while attending UT.
