🚨The BBC is at it again - pushing a compulsory "household levy" as a replacement for the TV licence.
The move is designed to force the 2.5 million households who've cancelled their licences since 2020 to once again fund the (anti)British Broadcasting Corporation 🧵
How many scandals does one broadcaster have to be dragged through before Westminster stops treating it as a treasured national institution that the public must be forced to fund?

🚨Another name for the BBC hall of shame.
It's been revealed that Kevin Adams — BBC Fame Academy coach — was convicted of sexually assaulting Andy Carroll.
He joins a grim list of BBC "stars" and presenters convicted of serious sexual offences:
Huw Edwards
Rolf Harris
Stuart Hall
Jonathan King
Chris Denning
Chris Langham
Dave Lee Travis
Peter Rowell
Kevin Adams
And that list doesn’t even include the vile Jimmy Savile, who died before he could ever face justice.
I said in 2023 during the Huw Edwards scandal that the BBC was a “safe haven for perverts” and demanded the licence fee be scrapped in the wake of the latest scandal.
Jon Sopel, free from rules on impartiality, branded my comments “moronic and offensive”.
@jonsopel I was right then and I'm right now.
I've said this several times in Parliament and will continue to say it.
Why wont you call it out?
🚨Westminster is rotten
Poll after poll has found around two-thirds of Britons want the BBC licence fee scrapped
2.7 MILLION households have already cancelled theirs since our campaign launched in 2020
Yet MPs’ answer is to expand the system so MORE people are forced to pay?
I find it so depressing that the bbc sacrificed its steady loyal viewers who watched things like Question of Sport, to chase a younger audience who were never going to tune in. Or buy a tv license. Short sighted. As a younger audience will get older & watch different things.
🚨The BBC is in an “inescapable doom spiral”, we're told.
And already the calls have begun for politicians to step in and secure more funding.
🗣️We say: good riddance🧵

📢 Tell your MP: scrap the TV licence.
Don't force the public to prop up a failing model through a broadband levy or general taxation👇

🚨Plans being considered as part of the BBC Charter Review could see the licence fee replaced with a compulsory levy automatically added to broadband bills.
🤬That means households which have ditched the BBC could be forced to pay again - even if they don't watch any live TV.
How convenient.
Ofcom “forgot” to publish data showing viewers trust GB News more than the BBC — despite publishing the figures every year.
It only emerged after @GBNEWS demanded the data.

🔥The BBC’s modern-day book burning continues.
👀It doesn’t just want to decide what you watch.
Apparently, it now wants to decide which jokes from 20 years ago you’re still allowed to see.
Even sketches mocking racism are apparently too offensive to be shown.

🚨 Small-boat migrants are going “from dinghy to HMO in seven weeks.”
So why isn’t BBC News — with its £888,000-a-day budget — properly investigating what's happening?
Christian Drogan (@watchman_raw), who went undercover to cross the Channel in a small boat, asks @trussliz
🚨Broadcast TV audiences are collapsing
💣Weekly reach has plummeted from 92% to just 54% in a decade.
So what have the Lords demanded today?
More protection for BBC funding 🙄
The establishment answer is always the same:
Protect the BBC. Make the public pay.
