@tracypaper1 @EmmaWatson I respect that you're trying to protect people; However, you would benefit from some statistics. For instance, transwomen are assaulted constantly in bathrooms while there are no convicted cases of ciswomen being assaulted by transwomen in bathrooms

@jk_rowling Why don't you say you are fighting for female's rights if you are focusing on people with vaginas. Sex=genitals and secondary sex characteristics; Gender=identity. Or say "ciswomen" if you must. You realize transwomen are assaulted at horrifying rates, right?
@ProfessionalJu2@jk_rowling@reddit The seditious thought they are being protected from is that transwomen are not women. Sex and gender are separate; Nobody is saying that sex isn't real. We are simply saying that ALL genders should be treated equally, not just ciswomen. Sex=genitals, XX/XY, etc; Gender=identity.
@jk_rowling
I found out that you're a TERF and my heart broke. In reference to your tweet about menstruation, the term you're looking for is "FEMALE." I'm truly disappointed in the woman who created my childhood dream world. Please try to open-mindedly educate yourself. ๐
I feel like the idea of castration anxiety may have been relevant in this film, but please correct me if yaโll disagree. It felt like an extreme version of it.

After watching the film, I am honestly pretty unsatisfied. The ending was troubling and it felt expected and fell into the trope of pitying โdisabledโ people.
#femfilm18
Do you all like the perspective that the film is being shot from? I feel like I would have liked it more if it was from the boysโ perspective and was less like us watching them from outside. Do you think how it was shot was the most effective option?
#femfilm18
Mulveyโs idea of the gaze was definitely present in this film as the brothers were being looked in at during private and intimate moments, especially the shower scene. Yeesh.
#femfilm18
Well this movie is officially making me hate the music industry and really just all industries that have to do with fame and marketing people as a brand. How the boys are being exploited is making me really uncomfortable.
#femfilm18
@kraus_gaby I agree that this shows voyeurism because of the emphasis on their bodies, as well as the idea of the gaze (also Mulvey) because of how they are being watched. This felt creepy to me too.
#femfilm18
@HBfemfilm @Amy13238155 I would say that being conjoined contributed to their success because of peoples' obsession with consuming otherness and dehumanizing difference. Being conjoined made the boys easier to turn into a spectacle and gain attention, it's disgusting how they were exploited.

Towards the end of the film, I liked the peaceful nature setting-the one with the arched bridge and colorful trees. It contrasted the city setting of the film, and I feel like it had meaning. Maybe hope for the future or seeing the beauty in a bad situation?
#femfilm18
Why do you think there was such an emphasis on that guy wanting to buy Miguel's truck? Was it to show the intimidation and lack of control that one has when working with manipulative people? To show the every day fear and lack of control over your own life, maybe?
#femfilm18
I'm about halfway through, and the scene where the men are all singing on the train is cute. When one of them picked up the boy and played him like a guitar it made me smile. It was just a happy, peaceful moment. It was a nice breather from the rest of the film.
#femfilm18
I can see castration anxiety in Miguel's relationship with Adri and how uncomfortable she makes him, but I feel like this has more to do with his own insecurities and internalized homophobia. I don't think he means harm, he just wants love and validation from his guy.

The concept of mise en scene applies in the beginning of the film where "changa" is graffitied onto the wall as changa translates roughly to an odd or unconventional job. I related this to the protagonists selling their blood, and I saw this as foreshadowing.

@RJfemfilm Desperate times call for desperate measures, hun. You would be amazed at what you would do for money when you need it for survival or to support loved ones, trust me.
