I decided to pin this because this scene made me like Picard(back when he was allowed to have a pair). I still really like Sisko, but this made me see just how far people have gone down the #censorship rabbit hole. Rings truer today: https://t.co/kAUDw7ZQoc
@ma1ybe You can't have a kid unless a man is involved in some capacity. Whether that be with having sex with one or going to a clinic to be inseminated artificially, it doesn't matter.
@xylophuq@thoughtographic Eh, you can think whatever you want, but I know I'm not a bot. That being said, my views on what I'm defending are based upon my viewed experiences and psychology. Sometimes, you'll find people who have thought their ideology through.
@xylophuq@thoughtographic Yet China and Vietnam are going more and more capitalist in economy and North Korea, the only place that seems to be doing even anything approaching good is the capital. Try again.
@ATLCWorker That's because Capitalism doesn't need a government to function. Communism does and the most visible famine was a created one in the "Holodomor" when Stalin intentionally starved millions of Ukrainians.
@thoughtographic@xylophuq After it took two decades for it to reform away from Socialism. Can't escape Deng's reforms, can ya? Also, way to mask the fact that the only places that seem to be experiencing the fruits are those zones by the coast. Further inland, it's still quite impoverished.
@0xDavecryps That's generally a knock on effect of taxes going up. The landlord still has to pay for the property and, while it sucks, it might mean that he has to raise your rent.
@MahikRani50377 It was a good tip. Ignore the brat who got mad that you apparently didn't pay enough with a tip and just be the best person you think. A tip should be a reward for good service, not an expected part of the bill.
@xylophuq@thoughtographic Well at least we can agree on that. That being said with my original point still stands that China was only able to get any real traction economically by moving away from Socialism, but it's only limited to the zones, where further inland is still agrarian, exclusively Socialist.
@Emmie_exx As someone who does have these issues, going outside is a good first step. After that, listen to the world, smell the air, listen to life around you, look up at the sky. Then, go get help, whether it be professional or simply going to those who might love you.
@VCHK_LVNA Which is a fair assessment. So I will criticize his work. It didn't factor in human nature, he didn't believe in a person's right to be left alone, and that which he is criticizing has long since evolved past that, making his criticisms rather moot.
@xylophuq@thoughtographic As due to a disastrous one-child rule, their populace has started aging out. Their supposed "prosperity" doesn't mean dick if they don't have enough people to work and the rest are too old to do so.(2/2)
@xylophuq@thoughtographic Which is the thing, China only ever really got anywhere in a developing sense when they started adopting more and more capitalist principles in those zones in the 70s. Everywhere else that didn't is still agrarian, where central planning reigns supreme. Plus, it's fragile(1/2)
@Suzierizzo1 I agree, but not just with one side, but both sides. Republicans and Democrats are both capable of being authoritarian. Democrats just are more insidious with it.
@thoughtographic@xylophuq Now who's blind? That happened over the course of 40 years and that's because of Deng's reforms where he liberalized the markets. Yet that's only in the zones where capitalism was allowed to take hold. The rest is still very much agrarian, as I have said before.
@RichardAngwin No it doesn't, but DEI is nothing but dead weight. If you're good at your job, why should it matter what your race, sexuality, or gender is what it is?
@thoughtographic@xylophuq Yeah, just ignore the millions of deaths during that time, and even then, the US is still the strongest economy in the world right now and with China's workforce aging out, they are about to face a massive upset once they don't have enough of a workforce to maintain it.
@thoughtographic@xylophuq While being a close trading partner with the USSR. After China instituted the "Great Leap Forward" which resulted in another famine and it wasn't until Deng's liberalization of the economy did any real growth happen.
