Is a free car still free if it comes with strings attached?
Caller: My husband’s grandpa wants to buy us a car. My husband thinks it’s a great idea… I think it’s a bad idea. He says I’m just being too proud.
Dave: Why is it a bad idea?
Caller: He wants to buy the car… but I’m worried it’s not going to be a car I really like. I’ve been trying to save up for a big SUV, and I don’t want to feel like I have to keep driving a car just because it was a gift.
Dave: Jenna, there’s something else going on. You’re not telling the whole story. A guy’s trying to give you a $19,000 car and you’re complaining about it. I don’t understand.
Jade: You don’t like him?
Dave: Is he going to come over to your house and make sure you shine the car? Is he a jerk? What’s going on?
Caller: No, he’s a nice guy… he’s just been a little critical lately.
Dave: Oh, he’s been critical. Unsolicited critical.
Caller: Yeah.
Dave: You’re afraid that if you take a car from him, that gives him permission to be full-on critical.
Caller: Yeah.
Dave: Yeah, that’s fair. That’s a fair concern.
Jade: If you think there’s going to be strings attached, you don’t have to take the gift.
He cheated on his wife with a coworker for 8 years... and still hoped to save his marriage.
John Delony: "You've been having an affair for eight years?"
Caller: "Yes."
John Delony: "This isn't a one-night stand. This is an 8-year emotional and physical affair."
Caller: "I never wanted a divorce."
John Delony: "Why are you still married?"
Caller: "I've been unhappy for years... we kept butting heads after having kids."
John Delony: "So you're blaming your wife now?"
caller: "No... I'm just explaining how it started."
John Delony: "You chose to sleep with one of your employees for almost a decade. You always had a choice."
Caller: "I'm just trying to minimize the destruction."
John Delony: "It's already gone. You've burned your house down and you're asking how to save the couch."
Caller: "Do you think my marriage can still be saved?"
John Delony: "The marriage you had is already over. "
"The only thing you can do now is tell the truth and live with integrity."
Matt Damon reveals why he still loves working with Ben Affleck after 40 years…
Amy Poehler: “You met, what… 10 and 8 or something?”
Matt Damon: “10 and 8. We were bizarre kids who were serious about acting.”
“At 16 and 14, we were going to New York together to audition.”
“Here we are 40 years later… we should make every single movie we can together.”
Amy Poehler: “It’s unusual that you still love working together after all these years.”
Matt Damon: “We’ve experienced so much of life together. It’s not a friendship that could ever be replicated because we grew up together.”
“One of the great things about writing with him is there’s a deep and abiding love and respect underneath everything. That’s never in question.”
“If you trust somebody that much, they’ll hear you out… and they’re humble enough to know they might be wrong too.”
“It’s just a very easy experience… and really fun because you’re doing it with my closest friend for over 40 years. Who else would I want to hang out with?”
