I just learned this morning that Bryan Eze qualified for the International Economics Olympiad in China to represent Nigeria, but the Ministry of Education said that there is no money to sponsor him.

They approached the Ebonyi State Government for support and the government said that they are not interested. So he missed it.

I became curious after he won the Sterling Bank National Online Maths Quiz yesterday.

This is heartbreaking.

I served under the ministry of my late spiritual father, Prophet Timothy Obadare, for almost 15 years, and he ordained me into ministry. This morning, I was in deep meditation on my relationship with him and other pastors in his ministry.

Do not underestimate your Pastor’s prayers. From 1994 to 2004, I was always picking up Prophet Obadare, my spiritual father, from the airport and dropping him off at the airport. I was always taking him to church for counseling and taking him home. I was always taking him to church services and dropping him off. I was not the only one, but I loved doing it.

Once he arrived in the UK, I would give him a minimum of £500 and a maximum of £1000 to buy whatever he needed. I also advised my wife to bless the man of God with whatever she felt like. I told her even though we are married, our pathways in life are different. She understood.

Prophet Obadare was always praying for my wife and me. We made him and our other pastors a project to look after them financially. That is in addition to supporting God’s work. Throughout my time in his ministry, I did not collect a penny from the ministry, even for petrol. I was selfless.

This morning, I was in deep meditation, and I remembered my spiritual father’s words and prayers over me. I remembered his words and advice whenever we were in the car. He was always sharing life’s lessons with me.

In one instance, we were stuck in traffic outside Brixton Station, London, on our way to Gatwick Airport in 1996 when he said, “No matter how prayerful or strong you are in ministry, there will come a time when you will have problems. All the people you raised and trusted may leave you, and that is when you will know a man called by God. Some pastors will die. Some will give up. Some will become sick. Some will go into the occult, and some will go from strength to strength because they will survive it.” When I faced my biggest crisis in ministry, I remembered his words. The words helped me to stand.

My advice is: build a very strong relationship with your pastor and be humble enough to learn. Do not be overtly familiar and do not be a Cho Cho Cho. Not everything you see should be said. That is childish. Bless them regularly, and let them pray for you and advise you. You will thank me years later. God bless you.

I think every student who graduates with a First Class from any Nigerian university should have 100% of their school fees refunded, plus a ₦1 million excellence bonus.

I came across a similar incentive model in the Netherlands, and it made me think.

Imagine the message it would send: Hard work pays. Excellence is rewarded.

Instead of only celebrating academic success with certificates, why not attach real value to it?

It could fundamentally change how many students approach their education.

Yesterday, my mum got ordained as a Deaconess in the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Exactly 30 years ago she performed Hajj as a Muslim, but today she is not just a born again Christian, she is also a Deaconess.

Her story is inspiring and a fulfillment of the Biblical saying: "for the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all mankind".
