@Madame_Ennui This place is a shithole as we all know, but even by these standards, to be exposed to some of these opinions has taken me to a dark place.
Grayzone, Alternet, MintPress, Mondoweiss, Consortium News; these are all basically left-InfoWars sources cited in many left-wing articles and publications with alarming regularity and essentially zero pushback.
Disparage Iranian protesters by focusing on the despicable monarchist diaspora all you want. But Iran uprisings' courage and yearning for freedom are beyond grasp of Tik Tok Tankies and Twitter Third Worldists.
You're ruled by Trump(s) without rebellion.
Don't pretend otherwise.
We’re so emotionally exhausted, like many many Iranians…in a constant state of anxiety and sadness
This ‘political football’ kicked about amongst polarised parties like a game
Most people don’t actually care about Iranians, almost no one asks if we’re ok or expresses their sympathy
Literally all people do is try and politically point score on Iranians peoples lives.
I’m talking about normal people, not politicians
It has made us more depressed about the state of the world that we can ever describe.
@MPPregent If you look at how pro-regime posts & articles are amplified through regime organs, there is little doubt that their delusions are fed by useful idiots in the west. The information war aimed at influencing western opinion ends up dictating the regime’s policies.
Your names will forever be a part of the blood soaked flag of the Mojahedin. We will never forget your sacrifice and we will avenge your deaths…

It’s been very cool & not at all insanity inducing to watch people who stayed silent during the January massacre not only become Iran experts over the last few weeks, but to speak over Iranians, and dismiss their lived experience, because it doesn’t fit their anti U.S. narrative.
Maria Luisa Fantappiè, Middle East analyst at @IAIonline, on the Iranian diaspora in Europe:
“It is largely a middle-class diaspora, made up of educated, highly skilled people... people who are well integrated into their respective professional fields, often excellent in their area... Many of them have not been able to find opportunities in Iran that match their talent and abilities, due not only to the repressive nature of the political system, but also to factors such as the impact of international sanctions...
There is a significant part of the diaspora that is against the war, while at the same time being against the regime... It is troubling when opposition to an authoritarian regime in turn adopts discriminatory attitudes toward other components of society... a more civic soul of Iranian civil society, which is also expressed through artists and filmmakers and does not necessarily want to identify with figures like Reza Pahlavi...
However, an anti-regime coalition has emerged whereby even people who were not initially monarchist have moved closer to those positions, more out of opposition to the system than out of genuine ideological adherence... Anti-democratic attitudes within the pro-monarchist diaspora are already producing fractures and alienating those who had joined simply to build a common front against the regime...
One must be very cautious in claiming that the majority of the Iranian diaspora, in Italy or in Europe, is pro-monarchist: it is rather a very visible component... In some cases, this exposure has been fostered by opaque digital tools and the use of social media also to intimidate other voices within the diaspora, who do not share those positions but are certainly not supportive of the regime... Greater visibility of a certain faction of the diaspora does not mean at all that this position is the majority... Reducing everything to a single narrative risks erasing the many facets of the Iranian diaspora and oversimplifying a much more fragmented reality.”
The Guardian platforms a regime loyalist as “Iranian public opinion” while internet shutdowns silence real dissent.
The woman promoted by @Guardian is a staunch Khamenei supporter who even attended events at his office!
Why should she be the one representing Iranians?

100% 👇, for anyone wondering at the reasons for this narrative. Nasr, Vaez, NIAC & others, acting in accordance with instructions, heavily on message & twisting & turning to maintain the narrative.
As noted before:
The Islamic Republic has never been weaker or more vulnerable.
The regime cannot outlast this, which is why they are relying so heavily on propaganda.
Those invested in the regime are trying to create the illusion and narratives that regime change isn’t possible and war is too costly, so it’s better to deal with the regime and let it rebrand.
The current price of oil isn't the barometer of success in this war. Not for America & certainly not for Israel.
The people who are hyper-focusing on that metric are looking to declare this war a failure regardless of what actually happens. Ignore them.
