“Go on without me. Don’t wait for me. I’ll catch up later.” I solemnly replied, “Ok. Only if you’re sure.” @aarondelp selflessly telling me to watch #GamesOfThrones without him while he flies to CA during tonight’s episode. #GoT#TheThingsWeDoForLove#ThisisTrueLove
Here are some basic, documented facts about what actually happened in North Carolina during COVID under Governor @RoyCooperNC:
- All public schools in NC were allowed to reopen in Fall of 2020. Local school boards were allowed to choose for themselves how to reopen.
- By October 2020, most elementary schools in NC were offering in-person instruction again.
- All restaurants/bars were open within 60 days.
- North Carolina's "stay at home" order lasted for a total of 40 days, a bit under the national average.
- No vaccine mandates, passports or travel restrictions ever existed, whatsoever.
There were very, very few partisan differences in how most states responded to COVID in 2020.
A warning from the president of MIT:
“the nation’s research enterprise is shrinking. Scientific funding is drying up. And the funds Congress recently allocated for science are not actually flowing”
“At public and private universities across the country, high-impact science is being damaged and derailed. Speaking for my own institution, compared to this time last year, MIT has experienced a decline in campus research activity funded by federal awards of more than 20%.”
Facing an all-but-certain "blue wave" election this fall, Republican leaders in North Carolina are scrambling to insulate their policy preferences in the state constitution.
Their proposals include eliminating local control over property taxes in favor of a state takeover, capping personal income taxes, and expanding partisan gerrymandering to the State Board of Education.
Our recommendation: North Carolina voters should reject all of the proposed state constitutional amendments.
Hills I will die on as a doctor obsessed with cardiometabolic health:
-Women are not “bad at self care.” They are drowning in invisible labor and mental load.
-Sleep deprivation is a public health issue.
-Chronic stress absolutely affects physical health.
-You cannot wellness your way out of unaffordable healthcare, childcare, food, and housing.
-Telling people to “just lose weight” without addressing mental health, food access, medications, medical conditions, sleep, finances, and time is just lazy.
-A salad will not cancel out a strained healthcare system.
-Postpartum recovery deserves the same seriousness as any other major medical event.
-Wellness misinformation has harmed people’s relationship with food more than fruit ever will.
-Prevention is important, but not every illness is a personal failure.
-A healthy woman is not a luxury. She is the backbone of families, communities, and society.
Donald Trump Jr is a paid strategic advisor for Kalshi, and a major investor and advisor for Polymarket.
The Trump administration is using taxpayer money to sue to protect their family’s investments.
This is what corruption looks like.
Trump will have:
* Torn up Obama’s deal
* Spent billions
* Depleted US critical supplies
* Cost tens of billions in US Gulf infrastructure damage
* Lost American lives
All to get:
* A worse deal than the one he tore up
And MAGA will screech and shout “TDS” if you question it.
The President is now exempt from our tax laws while everyone else has to obey them.
Got it.
It's just mind blowing that is what's happening in America.
The Voting Rights Act was reauthorized by Reagan and Bush, and enforced by a Republican Supreme Court majority for 55 years.
The idea that it was far-left partisan Democratic legislation is just ahistorical.
North Carolina offers some of the lowest starting teacher pay in the entire nation. That's a political choice, not a financial necessity.
The leaders of our state legislature are openly hostile to public education. They don't want to resource it because they want it to fail. They want North Carolina families to pull their kids out of public schools, so that one day, they can eliminate public schools completely.
It's a radical right-wing ideological fantasy - and there are dozens of people in our state legislature who'd love to do it today.
But those lawmakers don't reflect North Carolinians, our values, or what we want. Those lawmakers are the products of pervasive Republican gerrymandering that have all but nullified the influence voters have over our state legislature. Their rule is corrupt and fundamentally illegitimate.
Like many things, this bizarre race to the bottom in education is a product of gerrymandering. It won't last forever - and change is coming.
We did not cancel elections during the Civil War.
We did not cancel elections for World War II.
We did not cancel elections for COVID.
But the Louisiana Governor sees the opportunity to gerrymander Black members out of their seats and…
STATE OF EMERGENCY: ELECTION CANCELLED
The EPA's independent science arm did groundbreaking research to save lives. It studied fertility, asthma, wildfires, drinking water, climate change etc etc
In just one year, it has been almost completely dismantled
Of 1500 scientists, only 124 remain

So the Southern Poverty Law Center has informants deep inside neo-Nazi organizations reporting on their violent and hateful activities, and Trumps DOJ is indicting them for that? Are you fucking kidding me?
These people are evil.
I assume every Republican who’s bitching and moaning about Virginia tonight fully supports legislation to eliminate all gerrymandering nationwide, right?
Look forward to the next president signing that into law!
Texas redistricts without a vote, Republicans cheer.
Dems in Virginia respond by putting it UP FOR A VOTE OF THE PEOPLE, it passes, Republican cry foul.
Oh well. Good job Virginia!!
Trump is reportedly negotiating a deal which would stop Iran from producing a nuclear weapon in exchange for $20 Billion in Iranian assets being unfrozen.
Note that The Iranian Nuclear agreement (JCPOA) that Obama signed, that Trump tore up, did the same thing. It halted their Uranium enrichment while turning over frozen assets.
In other words Trump Tore up the agreement, spent $55 Billion on a war, got hundreds of Americans injured, killed 150+ kids and exploded oil prices to try and negotiate the same basic deal that Obama did.
In 2021, Democrats in Congress tried to pass a national ban on partisan gerrymandering (H.R. 1, For The People Act) - and Republicans filibustered and blocked it in the U.S. Senate, on the grounds it was "federalizing" elections.
Today, Donald Trump is demanding states to send all their voter roll data to the federal government to inspect and approve in advance of the 2026 election.
Can you spot the difference?
Sec. Kennedy: Mercury is absolutely—it’s the most powerful neurotoxin we know of in the universe.
Rep. Harder: So why are you working for an administration that is doubling the amount of mercury pollution in our air and water?
Sec. Kennedy: I am running HHS and I’m ending the chronic disease epidemic. I’m not going to comment on that because I don’t know anything about it.
Rep. Harder: Well, that’s very convenient for you, and it shows a significant degree of cowardice. It’s not just mercury. President Trump in July 2025 granted 50 chemical plants—
Sec. Kennedy: Why don’t you ask me something that I’m in charge of instead of other things?
Rep. Harder: Are you not in charge of Health and Human Services?
The most annoying thing about being human on Earth right now is the absolute waste of potential.
Brilliant minds and artists could be solving world hunger, climate change, and ending cancer, etc.
We could house, feed, clothe, and care for everyone.
But instead, we’ve decided to let a handful of asshats become billionaires, start wars, murder and imprison people, and keep the majority in poverty while ruining the climate.
It’s so stupid. The wasted ingenuity hurts to think about.
