2008 - Hossam Hassan received a six-match ban and EGP 50,000 fine after attempting to assault a referee.

2009 - Ibrahim Hassan received a five-year ban recognized by FIFA for spitting at a referee, assaulting an official and making offensive gestures. The ban was later lifted.

2016 - Hossam Hassan was filmed chasing and punching a photographer who was also a police officer. He was detained and suspended.

2019 - Amr Warda was expelled from Egypt’s AFCON squad following sexual harassment allegations. Mohamed Salah supported giving him another chance, and Warda was reinstated.

2023 - Emam Ashour, Tarek Hamed and Hussein El-Shahat were excluded from the national team for disciplinary reasons.

2024 - Ahmed Fattouh struck and k!lled a police officer in a road accident. Prosecutors reported speeding and cannabis use. He received a suspended one-year prison sentence, a fine and a driving ban.

2026 - Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan were involved in a confrontation with police at Egypt’s World Cup hotel.

Let’s get this straight.

Messi must answer for his teammates’ behavior, but Egypt’s own national team has a history of disciplinary controversies involving players, coaches and officials. The hypocrisy is breathtaking.

Messi finished FIFTH in the Ballon d’Or, with six journalists voting him first.

Eight Ballon d’Or. A World Cup. Two Copa Americas. Four Champions Leagues. Your vote changes NOTHING.

Messi is the greatest player of all time and is bigger than Egypt. And neither does your outrage change the result.
