investing diary. trying to be a long term investor. bigot free space. tweeting about $spot $googl $sq entertainment media being a 25 year old in brooklyn
@wolfofharcourt@lordrevenue And if you listen on Apple Music Spotify is still getting paid like a 70 dollar cpm for a host read. Everyone complaining about wanting Spotify to have profit and then sh*tting on them for moving to make money off of their assets.
@wolfofharcourt Good, Spotify milked them for an awareness campaign that their platform has podcasts and now that they are #1 they can put it back on the other services milk the show for ad dollars and go after their competitors like iHeart Media, siriusxm etc bread and butter.
@7LukeHallard@fatbabyfunds I don’t think that’s the claim, it’s wordplay… and giving 8 ball. The 8 ball didn’t use AI and sold millions upon millions of units.
@Dmurr68 Interesting case study, feel like they have been behind the ball for the past few years though. They seem to be stuck in their niche and the audience doesn’t really want them to move anywhere - idk if I see a resurgence coming soon with trends moving away from them.
@pitdesi@elonmusk dont get rid of them, I bet these are more expensive bc they can be contextual ie user is interested in specific tweet (needs better ad rec). I dont think it’s too jarring, it is a similar to many other online ads like google/Reddit that gen z/alpha have used their whole lives.
@CooperASmith@RuncieDan Other markets are converting fast from YouTube! Latin America now largely prefers Spotify and India/Indonesia are rapidly switching over. $spot
@FooterWhite@RuncieDan algorithms love it, the weeknd and lana do it best in terms of mainstream audiences, phoebe bridgers did a great job on a smaller scale though she has grown sorta huge recently
@shuklaBchandra@debarghya_das good, show the great people of india why their product is better than Youtube. sustained growth is proving that their retention is high. This also is the strategy in every region spotify has opened up to.
