#oub329 Wk15 In the private sector the most common form of resistance is covert. Overt resistance without the support of a union means losing your job. An organisation needs to identify signs of resistance between staff and why. Otherwise, they’re both losing. @sin_j007
#oub329 Wk 15 This week made me realise that behavior patterns of colleagues and myself that i observed in my career, actually have a name, they mean something and they have always been related to a form of power exertion of the businesses that employed us. @sin_j007
#oub329 In week 14 i learned about categorizing challenges. My biggest take away though is not the identification of the challenge, but what to expect after dealing with it as well. For example a wicked challenge might not be fully resolved. @sin_j007
#oub329 Wk14 Being able to identify a challenge as wicked, tame or critical, presents a leader with a predefined set of options on how to tackle it. It may not solve the problem fully, but it shows a clear direction on how to get on with addressing it @sin_j007
#oub329 wk12 i think a project can evolve to be a positive, negative or zero sum game based on the aims set in its beginning. If team members seek their own agendas through the project it could develop to negative sum. If they share a goal, positive @sin_j007
#OUB329 wk12 My biggest take away from this week is that goals that everyone is ok with need to be set before undertaking any project even though this seems to be the most challenging part of a collaborative project @sin_j007
#oub329 wk11 Leadership does not translate into a one man’s show. Constructive dissent, disagreeing with superiors or simply expressing an opinion can contribute into avoiding surprises and pitfalls @sin_j007
#oub329 wk11 I believe that the whole concept of this week could be summarized in Grint’s misquote of Burke “it only takes the good follower to do nothing for leadership to fail” @sin_j007
#oub329 wk10 Spreading fake news and labelling people and organisations without basis are two of the greatest risks of the networked world. People get easily biased and this can ruin businesses and reputations with just enough clicks @sin_j007
#oub329 wk10 Followers today will hold leaders accountable one way or another. Regimes of the past cannot get away with crime as easy as they used to. Even in the less developed world people raise their voices forcing leaders to act on social issues @sin_j007
#oub329 wk9 Moving forward i would like to try and implement Linden’s 5 key characteristics in my leadership skills when it comes to collaboration. I found the piece on Lincoln to be very inspiring in this regard @sin_j007
#oub329 wk9 I really liked the example of the jazz band in order to explain collaboration. How an instrument alone sounds great and how the band playing together sounds amazing. I think this is the prefect parallelism to effective collaboration in organisations @sin_j007
#oub329 wk8 Activity 4 “exploring situational leadership”, was really eye-opening for me. I practiced the examples a few times to figure out which is the best way to respond to situations. Understanding why was the most important lesson @sin_j007
#OUB329 wk8 Diversity brings several perspectives and ideas into the picture. Dissent is an effective way for new methods and practices to be established. Harnessing the benefits of inclusive diversity is key to leadership @sin_j007
#OUB329 wk7 I was very interested in Karen Kane’s 3 steps of managing difficult people, or as she said managing yourself. I will definitely try to apply these 3 steps as well @sin_j007
#OUB329 Week 7 confirmed my beliefs that staying on track with deadlines and budgets by screaming and yelling to your team, don’t make you a leader :) @sin_j007
#oub329 wk4 Taking into account a person’s cultural influences will definitely be on my mind when working in a team, compared to expecting everyone to adhere to standard procedures and practices. People have their own way of doing things. @sin_j007
#oub329 wk4 This week gave me a better perception on how different nationalities, based on their culture, are probable to work in a certain environment. Being a part of a multicultural organisation myself, i can say this week was eye opening. @sin_j007
#OUB329 w3 Populism seems to offer a quick fix to the woes of a nation. It’s those guys fault. Get rid of them and everything goes back to normal. If it only were that simple.. @sin_j007
