We've been asked lately, "Why Final Five Voting?"
Here's one pretty strong answer to that question.
We need accountability and results out of Congress--to do that, we have to fix our electoral system. #FinalFiveVoting
This Veterans Day our friends and partners at @OperationVAV are asking all of us to consider going beyond “thank you."
We are proud to stand with them in supporting #FinalFiveVoting!

This is a case study for #FinalFiveVoting.
📢We're at a peak level of dysfunction that is dangerous, irresponsible, and another reason we need Final Five Voting.
Exactly, @jaketapper. The people don't care. They want a Speaker.
All eight members who voted to oust McCarthy come from districts that are considered uncompetitive in the general election. [cont. on thread]

Healthy competition in the general election would not flip these seats blue, nor should it. These are strongly red districts, but a bit of electoral accountability might incentivize more collaborative behavior when we need to show leadership, both at home and abroad.
"#FinalFiveVoting will give elected officials the freedom to work together to solve meaningful challenges, delivering results to keep their jobs. It is the best way to return to the truly democratic core principles our republic was founded upon."

Great overview of the perils of the 'elections machinery' from @katherinegehl, with a nod to #FinalFiveVoting
"This is not to minimize the complexity of partisanship created by our divisive election system... That difficulty is no excuse to not demand that Congress do its job"
The House (and the Senate) should vote at least as many times as they voted for Speaker--15--before we give up and default. Here's my piece in @FORTUNE. #DebtCeiling#HastertRule#LetCongressVote https://t.co/RuCzJ4Aea3
Jeff Joerres: Playing politics with our financial system is irresponsible and dangerous.
Absent Final Five Voting, legislators won’t change. Why should they? But there is a better way.

Great interview with John Pudner @TBORA_ and Meg Ellefson @WSAU on #FinalFiveVoting.
Meg rightly asked, "Is this a failsafe for bitter primaries?" If so [we certainly argue it would help!], let's get it done!

"In the wake of Republicans’ disappointing outcome in the 2022 midterm elections, Speaker Kevin McCarthy has told donors privately that the party needs better candidates to keep their majority and expand it" @jbydlak#FinalFiveVoting

Boosting voter participation during primary elections is vital to our democracy.
Opening up primaries to more voters is one way to reach BPC’s turnout benchmark of 35% by 2026.

"As Republicans, we often resist change for change’s sake. But we should keep an eye on what is happening in Alaska and Nevada and consider how other states approach elections." - John Pudner, @TBORA_ in @RiponSociety#FinalFiveVoting

#FinalFiveVoting is NOT #RCV. RCV "won’t accomplish what citizens really want and need: a Congress that gets the job done because it won’t change what winners do once they’re in office." For that, only #FFV will do. https://t.co/m7wVxZKsV1 via @BulwarkOnline
“I seem to see the same movie playing over and over again in our political races….do we expect a different ending?
As a Republican voter in Wisconsin, I am once again frustrated by the party primary.” - Kelly Grebe #FinalFiveVoting#Wisconsin
