@NancyAFrench Yes, but I probably applied to 300 different listings. Only got a handful of interviews, and that was with around 10 years of experience. The place that hired me put their listing on Indeed with instructions to email a resume, presumably to weed out less serious candidates.
@ashleysbored It's just a bad slogan imo. Ends up pushing the "I tried hard to breastfeed, it didn't work out, and I need someone to reassure me that I'm not a bad mom" crowd in with the "Breastfeeding has no real health benefits, so why bother" stuff
Fertility clock discussion is so stupid because so few normal women are involved. What if I told you that almost every girl wanted be married before 30? Most even want their first child before 30. No one with a brain actually needs a reminder about time.
@lagerandgospel2@AlaskanKate I've got a theory that parents with autism and ADHD have tended to homeschool at higher-than-average rates
Having poor social skills and trouble sticking to anything isn't necessarily caused by educational style alone
Be careful who you marry
I had exactly no interest in video games but married a gamer (he wasn't doing as much of it then). Now I keep accidentally falling to my death in Minecraft π
I don't actually support banning this, but honestly a lot of the replies are confirming why I think this kind of testing (and our culture's tendency to highly gender all baby stuff) is bad
The Victorians many issues, but putting all tiny children in identical clothing is π
@adesertdryad@JillFilipovic As a librarian married to a welder...100%. People get too hung up on college as such, and forget that there aren't many trade-school-level professions geared toward women
Anecdotally, I noticed this when I managed to get ahold of my grandfather's elementary school transcripts. He did okay till the year his dad died; then his scores did a nosedive, he had to repeat seventh grade, and he ultimately flunked out
this actually isn't true, we have several studies where indeed we can see a parental death, and yes, it causes quite notable drops in child test scores.
