@Bobatron87@GBPolitcs@OpiniumResearch You're desperate to tell Rejoiners how hopeless we'll be at negotiating EU without giving up £. Why? Because you don't want to rejoin. Right now nobody wants to upset Referendum voters. But the increasing numbers speak for themselves. At some point it'll be back on the table.
@Bobatron87@GBPolitcs@OpiniumResearch Danmark: krone and opt out policing law
Sweden: delay of ERM / Euro loophole
Ireland: Schengen Area
Poland: official opt out Charter Fundamental Rights
ADD FOR OTHERS negotiations over phased entry / exclusions over territories
BUT WE COULDN'T NEGOTIATE?
Way to talk us down
@martinez_j7902@PolitlcsUK Fucking hell. This is the go-to line anytime children and media are discussed. Bring something intelligent to the conversation FFS
@Bobatron87@GBPolitcs@OpiniumResearch What? Candidate countries spend years negotiating dozens of policy chapters and membership terms before joining. Literally how the process works. You view UK negotiating powers with disdain, because that fits "your narrative".
PS I stopped enjoying our chat when you became rude.
@Bobatron87@GBPolitcs@OpiniumResearch Oh I see. You're at a point where you are being rude. You're a leaver who wants the public to believe Europe wouldn't negotiate. Got it. Well lucky for you we aren't there yet, but as your own upload shows, the support is growing. Thanks for the chat while it remained civil.
@Bobatron87@GBPolitcs@OpiniumResearch We previously had unique treaty opt-outs. If we reapplied we'd renegotiate. Several EU member states also remain outside the eurozone and continue to use national currencies. Rejoin voters should have confidence in UK's negotiating power.
@Bobatron87@GBPolitcs@OpiniumResearch That's neither accurate or likely in UK case. EU membership itself does not automatically require immediate adoption of either. Candidate countries commit to working toward them but aren't expected to adopt. Eg. there are legal, economic, and technical conditions to be met.
@Bobatron87@GBPolitcs@OpiniumResearch Yeah, I don't think many people are advocating the Euro. We chose not to adopt it while we were in. It's not something we'd have to adopt. I think most people just want to undo the calamity of Brexit.
