I still say, for the gas chamber, the process should start with happy gas, then slowly add carbon dioxide. If we insist on using an injection, then start with a low dose of an opioid, then slowly increase the dose.
In the gas chamber the subject would simply fall asleep and then die.
With the injection, the subject loses consciousness and then dies.
