Nick Saban was asked, "What does it take to win?"

His answer, "It's MINDSET."

He explained there are 3 things that make up that mindset and what it takes to win.

He said, "If you don't have people thinking and focusing on what it takes to win, you're going to really struggle to be able to do that."

So what are those 3 things?
1. Vision - "It's the vision that you have for what you want to accomplish. You got to have a vision for what you want to accomplish in your organization."

Your vision sets the direction and gives the team a clear path forward. It gives everyone a shared sense of purpose that fuels motivation and helps everyone understand the 'Why' behind their actions. It builds commitment.

2. Commitment to the Process - "Which is the things that you have to do to be successful at whatever that vision is."

Focus on the process and the actions of what it's going to take to win. Be detailed and look at the inputs that drive the outcome that you want. Success is just the end result, it's the daily habits that you set up that drive those results.

3. Discipline to Execute - "The most important thing, and where people fail the most, is you have to have the discipline to execute it every day."

Saban defines discipline as, "What you're supposed to do, when you're supposed to do it, the way it's supposed to get done."

He said, "It doesn't matter what you feel like. You got to make choices and decisions based on what you want to accomplish and what you want to do. You got to be committed to it and it's got to be important to you to be able to do that."
