@BlackscholarM Federal dollars to come to Detroit, federal investment in our public schools, accountability for utilities and AI, intentional policies on Black health, small biz support, and investment in housing. And he has responded with his Thrive agenda among other things.
@kayleighrenel I think we can look at the context of Rogers claiming he won the 2024 election when he didn’t as proof that he is not trying to prevent agitators and instead pushing conspiracy and voter disenfranchisement.
@kayleighrenel Shame on you for trying to cover for a plan that Detroiters have time and time again said we do not want because this is exactly what led to the intimidation we saw in 2020.
@kayleighrenel Because in acting like Mike Rogers is not calling for what we saw in Detroit in 2020 is actually pushing conspiracy theories. We don’t need law enforcement coming into our city and “poll watching”
Let’s be very clear: This is not about protecting poll watchers or even about ensuring people can vote. This is about continuing to attempt to disenfranchise & delegitimize Detroit voters and votes, just like they tried to do in 2020. This is continuing the Big Lie BS.
Digging in:
• Abdul is winning 6% of Republicans
• Mike is only winning 5% of Democrats
• Abdul is winning 46% of Independents
• Mike is only winning 38% of Independents
• Abdul is winning 10% of those who voted for Donald Trump
• Mike is only winning 7% of those who voted for Kamala Harris
Narrative busting.
It’s time to vote, #Detroit!
It is important we let folks know about the mechanisms of voting. Who can vote? How do you vote?
Our office will be sharing information on how Detroiters can make their voices heard at the ballot on Nov 3!
@BlackscholarM For ordinance work, I’m looking at how we can further incentivize the bid and contracting process. As you may know, we currently give extra “credits” in the scoring for Detroit-based and “minority-owned” businesses. Looking at ways to strengthen it. https://t.co/iKN1tiVTSl
@BlackscholarM Your question began with mentioning the Mayor. I then told you what I am working on. I’ve advocated to the Admin to be more active in reaching out to Detroit-based businesses in the bid process since it begins with the Office of Contracting and Procurement.
@BlackscholarM I can’t and won’t speak for the Mayor. However, it’s my aim to increase opportunities for Black and Detroit-based vendors/contracting. Looking at ordinance change and also education of opportunities to ensure folks are in the bidding process.
@kayleighrenel@WWFerguson2 Got it. Your tweet made it seem like he was going around with those folks recently and somehow associated with what’s going on with the Mayor, which is not the case. Many folks are working on the Kronos issue, which is in line with Abdul’s environmental justice stance.
